Fuzion Frenzy

Interesting story for a party game. It goes a little something like this: sometime in the future cities have become intense battlegrounds for dangerous games played by people of all ages. What's the goal? To prove who's the best. Televised worldwide, the tournaments have become almost an obsession, and each zone of the world has sent the best of their best to bring glory and honor to their home. This game brings back memories of the old days, when you could walk into a room where people are playing a video game, and having no knowledge of the game itself, can immeadiatly play.

This is an excellent multiplayer title. Please keep an open mind about this “party” game. However, once you look past the seemingly innocent façade, you will find yourself tossed around the proverbial meat grinder. It almost feels like a futuristic American Gladiators, only hopped up on goofballs.

Just the fact that this game has such variety in a limited genre is more than enough reason to give this game a spin. It’s interesting to see how they jazzed up party gaming. You will have such a rush beating your friends. Even when most party games suffer from a stingy one player mode, Fuzion Frenzy offers an entertaining game for those of us without any friends (such as myself).

Fuzion Frenzy, being the party game that it is, is intended for multiplayer gaming. While competing against three computer opponents is a viable option, it quickly wears thin due to the lack of a reward system, such as hidden characters or arenas. If you’re not one to invite your friends over for a little multiplayer action, you’re better off leaving Fuzion Frenzy on the shelf, perhaps renting it when the occasion arises.

While there’s not much ground-breaking to the game, it offers up exactly what it advertises, a whole lot of multiplayer fun!

Au Backe! Ob ausgerechnet Fuzion Frenzy dafür sorgen wird, vier Leute für längere Zeit vor der Xbox zum Spielen zu versammeln, wage ich zu bezweifeln. Die Idee, bekannte Spielprinzipien in ein modernes Gewand zu packen und Party-tauglich zu gestalten, ist an sich löblich. Doch die Umsetzung wirkt einfach zu uninspiriert, die Spiele (bis auf zu wenige Ausnahmen) wiederholen sich vom Ansatz her zu häufig und werden selbst mit vier Spielern auf Dauer ziemlich eintönig. Dass die Grafik keine Bäume ausreißt wäre ja noch zu verschmerzen, wenn es wenigstens vom Spielspaß her stimmen würde. Doch diese Hoffnung löst sich relativ schnell in Luft auf. Wenn Ihr unbedingt zu viert (oder gar noch mehr Spielern) spielen wollt, versammelt lieber ein paar Zocker um Halo und fraggt um die Wette.

Still, with a bunch of friends, Fuzion is fun. Good but unspectacular graphics and above-average sounds almost forgive the simple-but-clunky controls. Fuzion Frenzy lacks the personality of the plumber or the bandicoot, but it’ll do.

There are other, more-engaging multiplayer experiences to be had with the Xbox, but at this point, none have the pick-up-and-play appeal of Fuzion Frenzy.

Fuzion Frenzy is mindless fun. In a genre laden with excrement like Mario Party and Sonic Shuffle, I fancy FF to be tops of the minigame-fests – though that isn't saying much.

Fuzion Frenzy is alright, but not to the tune of $50. If you like this type of game and can get it cheap, though, you'll find it a fair way to pass the time with your buds.

But don't get me wrong, Fuzion Frenzy is definitely a great one night party pleaser. It does have good graphics as well as the ability to play your hard drive tunes while you play. This game doesn't make the $50 climb, but as a rental for a night with friends, Fuzion Frenzy rocks.

Remember pong? Well, that game's gameplay owns Fusion Frenzy on every level. I can understand that some people really like to play family/party games like Monopoly, Trivial pursuit, … but this game has some nasty features that just demoralize you from start to finish.

Bref, pour résumer, Fuzion Frenzy fait parti des mauvais titres de la Xbox. Sauf si bien sûr vous êtes un inconditionnel des Party Games et que vous voulez absolument compléter votre collection, nous ne pouvons que vous déconseiller l'achat de ce jeu. Surtout que si vous voulez en profiter pleinement, il faudra obligatoirement ouvrir le portefeuille et investir dans quelques manettes supplémentaires. Mieux vaut garder votre argent pour un titre qui en vaille vraiment la peine.

Fuzion Frenzy's graphic quality isn't bad, but all the futuristic city locations look the same - pretty boring! This has got to be one of the most unappealing multi-player games I've ever come across. I find it astonishing that Microsoft felt this deserved a sequel!
