Gabriel Knight: The Sins of the Fathers es una aventura magnífica, bien planteada, bien desarrollada, bien...en fin, una aventura que nadie debería perderse. Quizás el final del juego saque de quicio a mucha gente, por las numerosas veces que podremos morir, en contraposición del resto de la aventura, donde las ocasiones que tendremos de morir serán muy pero que muy escasas. A pesar de eso Gabriel Knight te apasionará desde el primer instante gracias a lo que creo que son las dos cosas más importantes en una aventura: su guión y su desarrollo.

Spelet har ypperliga musik- och ljudeffekter och Sierra-älskare kommer att bli överlyckliga. Trots att det här är ett bra och spännande spel är det dock hög tid för Sierra att utveckla sig lite. Det är dags att omstrukturera layouten på spelen för, ärligt talat, så känner man igen det mesta numera.

Gabriel Knight geht sehr dezent mit seinen Texten um, denn der Spieler wird nicht bildschirmfüllenden Pamphleten a la Larry überschüttet, sondern bekommt gezielte Hinweise und kann im Fragefenster auch gezielt nachhaken. Das neue Icon-System gehört allerdings nicht zu meinen persönlichen Freunden, daβ "Türchen öffne mich"-Icon hält nur unnötig auf und das "Erzähl mir was"-Icon konnte man sehr gut mit dem anderen Sprach-Icon kombinieren.

What I really liked about this game is that it's more..., "serious". I mean games like Leisure Suit Larry are really funny and all, but not many are meant to be scary etc. Another thing is the difficulty of the game, which is higher than your average game.. You see now you get to translate stuff, listen to tapes from people you've interrogated, and basicly forcing you to think more. If only they could have put in a different voice and the game would be in my opinion really great. Speaking of voices, the secretary's voice sounds like Daria on MTV so if you like her then you'll like the secretary.

I doubt there's been any adventure game that's made me more pissed than GK1. When I had my good ol' pentium 75 I tried at many occations to install and play this game, but for some reason which I do not know it would not work. The other day when I was checking out some of my oldies I decided I should give it a try on my new K7 650, and luckily it worked. One thing that sort of annoys me is when you have to change to 256 colors, it's probably because the windows version uses WinG libraries (the stuff that was used before directx) and it probably found out that it should piss off every single person who could afford the luxury of more colors. ANYWAYS, after having installed the game and watched a somewhat strange intro the game starts off in some strange office. As a matter of fact it looks a little like the room you start in in Indiana Jones 4, you know; brick walls, loads of books, strange artifacts and symbols, and a general mess.

I DOS går det förstås mycket snabbare, men problemet är att den version som säljs i Sverige (1.0) har en gigantisk bug som gör det omöjligt att hämta tillbaka sparade spel. OK, det finns en patch att hämta från Sierra, men frågan är hur i h-e man kan släppa ett spel i det här skicket. Sierra har genom en talanglös presentation effektivt tagit död på ett av sina bästa spel genom tiderna.

En given fyra blir en trea för slöheten. Men den som har tid kan se fram mot ett rysligt bra äventyr av hög klass.
