Description
Galactic Frontiers is a turn-based strategy game set in space. The First Empire, composed of 25 planets, collapsed and the player's goal is to build a new one. Unfortunately, the leaders of the other planets are not cooperative and so violence has to be used.
The economic system of the game is relatively simple: each planet produces a number of ships each turn which are either moved over the galaxy for warfare or sacrificed to develop planets. Each planet is rated in five values which may be improved over time. Each value gives certain advantages, e.g. tax is the monetary income or fortifications improve combat effectiveness. Other than that, the player may also construct either a star gate (fast travelling) or a star cannon (improves the speed of nearby ships) per planet. The galaxy is inhabited by three races with different abilities in built, attack and defense. Each round, random events like black holes or plague may occur which considerably change the cards.
The game comes with five scenarios which change the underlying statistics, rules, probabilities and victory conditions. With the sixth custom scenario, the player also has the opportunity to customize all those things manually. The planets and their starting statistics are randomly divided in each game.
