The Video Game Critic
This is golf done right on the Game Gear. Like the Genesis PGA Golf games, this one features a streamlined interface, tight controls, a wealth of options, and realistic gameplay.

Game Players
The controls and graphics replicate the 16-bit version, but the time required to redraw the terrain for each shoot can be quite unnerving. The smaller Game Gear screen also makes the fine breaks on the green very difficult to read.

Video Games & Computer Entertainment
Negatives include the sound effects (the sound of the ball nestling into the cup is more like the tinkle of a magic wand) and the grid that shows the lie of the green: The low-res horizontal lines just blur into each other. But if you can live with slow-drawing graphics, there's a lot of long-term play value here.

GamePro
With remarkable graphics and sound game play, PGA Tour II surges onto the Game Gear with a seemingly strong conversion of the popular Genesis golf series. Sadly, murderous slowdown shatters what could've been a superb game.
