Rise of the Robots for the 16-bit systems was kind of a disappointment, so it's not surprising to find out that the Game Gear version is so-so. You are an android whose missions is to fight against renegade robots. Basic fighting game structure here, but with special moves that are way too hard to execute; you'll find yourself kicking and punching repeatedly once you corner an opponent. The graphics are above average for the Game Gear and the design of the opponents is top-notch. If only there was gameplay to back it up. This one's for hardcore robot groupies only.

ROTR may keep you satisfied if you don't own any other games and you're into extremely basic video fighting. The bad control, weak gameplay and choppy animation infest this cart from start to finish. Robot's more than a little rusty.

This is probably one of the more disappointing titles of the last year. After being hyped to the skies, mostly for it's rendered look, the final game falls short in lot's of different categories, including animation and control.
