You won't have to Force yourself to enjoy this hand-held version of Star Wars. Help the Rebels out and destroy Vader, even if he's only a small sprite.
Game Zero (Nov, 1993)
Star Wars was very much different than I had expected. The game was fast paced and full of action. It requires a sharp eye to pick out the fast moving bad dudes, especially on the small Game Gear screen (as compared to a roomy 27" TV). Pretty good sound accompanies this cute title. A perfect stocking stuffer for the Game Gear in every house.
Sega Force (Jan, 1994)

At the end of the day, we have a traditional 8-bit platformer based on a great film. There is a mix of colorful graphics, movie characters who are fun to control, stages that mostly seem generic (except for enemies from the films), nice cut-scenes, and mostly bad music. The positives outweigh the negatives, and as mentioned, most of the appeal comes from the tight controls, and the visceral enjoyment of running, jumping, and shooting everywhere. Despite its difficulty, cheap deaths, and maze-like stages, Star Wars is still enjoyable, and offers more content than most people will ever get through, so there’s always more to see, and more replay value. The Game Gear’s platformers were mostly known for the Sonic series, so any other fun platformers are a welcome addition to its library.
Electric Playground (May 26, 1997)
Star Wars didn't set the world on fire when it hit this portable machine back in '93 (although it did get its fair share of critical praise) and it's certainly not going to drive people wild with unrestrained excitement today. But if I were an on the go Game Gear player (Nomad's won my heart since it came out), I wouldn't be caught leaving home without it. Especially these days.
Video Games (Nov, 1993)
If you're a fan of Star Wars, then you will probably enjoy this game. If you don't care about the movies, however, then you are probably better off choosing a different side-scroller. There are plenty of better ones to choose from.
