Lilo & Stitch is a well-done game, one that will challenge most players. The levels are fast-paced and exciting, with lots of non-bloody mayhem. However, the game offers limited replay value, and will be too difficult for many younger players. Still, a worthy effort from Disney, and a whole lotta fun!

What I thought would be just another platformer spit out to support a Disney movie actually turns out to be a lot of fun, and very well put together. Yes, it is a platformer; but the excellent play mechanics coupled with the unlockable movie clips and smooth character animations make this title a pleasant surprise. The only thing holding it back is the lack of an engaging storyline. Still a great game to take on the road, though.

After years of playing Disney games that use the generic platform theme, it's refreshing to experience a game like Lilo & Stitch that breaks away from that ol' license formula. Digital Eclipse, the game's developer, went back to classic ideas for this game's structure, and built a quality action title with outstanding artwork and animation. I really wish the game had cartridge save, because the seven-character password is just a drag to jot down after each level. But the good definitely outweighs the not-so-good, and this game is one cool old-school romp.

Maybe the worst thing, though, isn't that a kid gets a game that's too tough or violent. Heck, Electronics Boutique takes returns. The sad thing is that a lot of gamers are going to miss out on a heck of a title solely because they think that a Disney game is made for their little brother or sister. My advice? Pretend it's Will Smith in the Stitch levels and Tommy Lee Jones in the Lilo levels and that it's a not-too-shabby Men in Black cart.

Overall, Lilo & Stitch isnt a total bomb like the majority of quick movie license cash-ins, but it wasnt all that great, either. The game retained the feel of the source material and the storyline was consistent with the films tone, which was nice. However, the average gameplay wasnt anything to write home about, and the difficulty will be too much for inexperienced gamers buying it based on the license alone. I have a sneaking suspicion that Id be a lot harder on the game if I hadnt already seen the film and fallen prey to the charms of a blue koala in an Elvis jumpsuit. For those of you who cant get enough of the characters, the game has some appeal. If you havent seen the film, didnt like the film (if thats even possible) or youre just looking for a worthwhile portable purchase, Id advise looking elsewhere.

Lilo & Stitch really isn't too bad, provided you play it with the right mindset. Don't expect perfection, an even flow of action, or even creativity. The shooting portions are a little too monotonous and the sneaking portions entirely too short. Despite this, it's a solid game with a strong foundation; if you don't mind its slightly fragmented personality, you're likely to be entertained. At the very least, it should keep you occupied until SNK finally churns out Metal Slug: Advance Mission...
