Klonoa is a supremely playable platform game that is as good as anything on the GBA. The puzzle nature of the levels has been balanced just right and it will provide an immense and enjoyable challenge for fans of the genre. Like all class titles it will also appeal to gamers who don't normally like platform games because the puzzles prevent it from becoming too straight forward and similar to other platform games.
Klonoa: Empire of Dreams is one of the most solid platformers I've ever played. The gameplay, which is crucial to the genre, is awesome. The graphics are extremely sharp and stunning. The control is tight. The sound department is lacking, but it certainly doesn't take away from the game. Finally, the lastabality is ok. Lots of levels, but it's still a short game. If you're looking for a good platformer, I'd definitely recommend Klonoa: Empire of Dreams. The game is great and anyone looking for fun will enjoy it.
Without a doubt, this is the best game available for the Game Boy Advance. Castlevania was excellent and Mario Kart: Super Circuit is great, but neither of those have gameplay as polished as Klonoa: EoD. Its undeniable charm and unique play mechanics are far superior to Mario Advance and offers a lot more replay value than any GBA title out there. Generally, portable games are only worth playing through once, but Klonoa is so far beyond that, it's practically a console game.

Klonoa is an excellent little game, wonderfully suited to the handheld format. Mostly puzzling, but sometimes action-orientated and with the odd colourful boss encounter along the way, it’s an enjoyable, thinking man’s platformer, with a bigger lifespan than your average £40 console release. Klonoa stands to become a regular fixture on the GameBoy Advance, with at least two other games in development, and deservedly so.

The Game Boy Advance was blessed with an enviable and nearly endless parade of platformers over its lifespan, and this game stands out as one of the very best. With thoroughly satisfying mechanics and more charm in the opening stages than many games manage by the closing credits, Klonoa: Empire of Dreams is an absolute joy. If you loved Klonoa's big screen adventures, you'll love this handheld version both for the same reasons and for its distinct, pocket-sized personality; and if you've never had the pleasure of taking a trip with Namco's fuzzy Dream Traveller, this is a wonderful place to start.

I don't know what kind of creature this guy is, but I like him a lot. Namco's cute little fuzzy hero has made the leap from the PlayStation to the Game Boy Advance in fine form, bringing a fresh take on the platform genre to the handheld. After playing through Klonoa's quest on the GBA and experiencing his just-released PlayStation 2 game, I'm seriously hoping for Namco to continue this furball's career on the handheld – his first GBA adventure is absolutely wonderful.

The graphics and sounds are as sharp as those of any other GBA game: Bright, kaleidoscopic levels fill every inch of the screen, while the music and sound effects play nicely with Klonoa’s game style. Klonoa is a straightforward platformer with enough gameplay variety that will make you want to play to the very end.

The last facet to touch on is Klonoa’s audio, which, like the visuals shines above other title on Game Boy Advance. While things may be crystal clear though, a small percentage of people might find the music and Klonoa’s repeating voice samples a tad annoying and redundant at times. Everything within the sound department suits the game entirely, brining the whole environment to life.

Klonoa: Empire of Dreams is one of those games that makes me glad I bought a GBA. Addictive, famously frivolous, and yet so well designed that even the most serious gamer can enjoy it; Klonoa just simply rocks the GBA world. If you're buying anyone (including yourself) a GBA this holiday season, or for any occasion at all, do them (or yourself) a favor - buy Klonoa: Empire of Dreams.

Klonoa is not a new character -- and possibly resembles other popular video game characters like Sega's franchise Sonic, but the title does provide an enriching game experience with lots of technical moves and hours of gameplay. It does not, however, offer much in the way of new style or play for the Game Boy Advance, but does sport a fulfilling fantasy plot, and plenty of action for those who enjoy side-scrolling games -- plus it adds even a little bit more variety in the way of mini-games. Once each of the worlds are combated, it might even be time for a nap.

There's no doubt that Empire Of Dreams is a rock-solid title and an innovative hybrid of puzzle and action (with some surprisingly intense boss-battles to boot.) If the game is lacking one thing, it's that Klonoa just doesn't have the pizzazz of a Mario or Sonic. But that could come with time.
L’action variée est rythmée par une musique adaptée à chaque niveau. Les fréquents bruitages du personnage viendront ponctuer l’action. La jouabilité, excellente et instinctive, permet de prendre le personnage en main rapidement. Techniquement, Namco réussit à exploiter la console : les scrollings différentiels sont superbes et le mode 7 utilisé intelligemment. Les sprites sont un peu petits (boss exceptés), mais tout à fait lisibles et fins. La durée de vie est conséquente, surtout si vous choisissez de compléter tous les niveaux à 100 % (en recherchant tous les diamants). Un système de sauvegarde comportant trois emplacements permet de terminer Klonoa : Empire of Dreams à son rythme.

Klonoa Empire of dreams est un excellent jeu que tous fans d'action se doit de posséder. Cet épisode des aventures du chat ailé n'a rien à envier aux versions sur consoles de salon. Je ne saurais que vous le conseiller car il serait dommage de passer à côté d'un jeu si fun et attachant.

Obwohl die Grafik von Klonoa die Fähigkeiten des GBAs nicht ausnutzt und der Sound geradezu danach schreit, abgeschaltet zu werden, hat man es bei Empire of Dreams mit einem sehr soliden Jump'n Run zu tun, was hauptsächlich von der guten Steuerung und den Rätseleinlagen lebt. Insgesamt plaziert sich das Spiel zwar deutlich hinter Titeln wie Super Mario Advance 1 und 2 oder Wario Land 4, trotzdem können Genreliebhaber zugreifen.

Fans of the Klonoa series are sure to notice that Klonoa: Empire of Dreams is nowhere as ambitious as Klonoa 2 on the PlayStation 2. However, it is a highly respectable emulation of the general feel of the Klonoa universe and is excellent competition for Nintendo's upcoming Wario Land 4.

Grafisch gesehen kommt Klonoa: Empire of Dreams ordentlich daher und auch über den Sound kann man nicht meckern. Im Vergleich zu Genre-Primus Rayman wirkt das Spiel jedoch ebenso blass wie seine Hauptfigur. Nur die Zwischensequenzen sehen so richtig gut aus. Trotzdem: Hat man einmal das Steuerungsproblem im Griff, überzeugt Klonoa: Empire of Dreams spielerisch auf der ganzen Linie, wozu der modulinterne Batteriespeicher sicher seinen Teil beiträgt.
Auf den ersten Blick handelt es sich um gewöhnliche Jump‘n‘Run-Kost, aber schnell wird man feststellen, dass Klonoa mehr zu bieten hat. Statt einfach vom Start zum Ziel zu laufen und dabei Münzen oder sonst was einzusammeln, sind zahlreiche Rätsel und Puzzles zu lösen. Gegner gibt es eigentlich nur wenige, und die werden auch nicht durch den klassischen Kopfsprung geplättet, sondern aufgenommen, herumgetragen und für die verschiedensten Zwecke wieder eingesetzt. Detailgrad, Farbpalette und Animationen können mit Grafikperlen wie Rayman nicht mithalten. Auf der anderen Seite gibt es schicke 2D-Effekte: Da wird gedreht, gezoomt, gestaucht und verzerrt, was das Zeug hält. Musik und Soundeffekte können sich hören lassen, allerdings erklingt in einer Welt in jedem Level dasselbe Lied, was auf Dauer nicht sehr abwechslungsreich ist.
I thought Game Boy Advance was capable of more than this. Without the beauty of the visuals, boredom sets in a little faster. Empire of Dreams is entertaining and a good addition to GBA's library, but this old cat needs to learn some new tricks, or at least remember his old ones.
