It's an action that's almost as predictable as a cartoon script: a hot holiday movie license has a mob of consumables piggybacking on top of it. Looney Tunes: Back in Action isn't setting ticket sales ablaze or receiving incredible critical praise, but it's big and important enough, especially with the revival of the Looney Tunes brand back into the mainstream, to justify a whole series of marketing tie-ins. Along with the action figures and rereleases of classic cartoons, Electronic Arts has produced a line of videogames based upon the film of the same name. The console version is its own beast, we're here to talk about the Game Boy Advance version...and once again, the handheld rendition doesn't receive nearly the attention it deserves. It's a hack of a game that has some promise but ends up a barely average and enjoyable rendition. And that's all, folks.

Looney Tunes: Back in Action pits you as both Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck as you traverse a casino, Area “52,” the Louvre, and a jungle in search of the mythical Blue Monkey Diamond. Along the way you’ll run across several familiar faces, both friend and foe, from the Looney Tunes universe.

Worth Playing
Every year we see tons of mediocre Game Boy Advance games released that have been rushed out to release in unison with their big-budget console counterparts or a hyped up feature film. Or both. The latter is the case with Looney Tunes: Back in Action, and while I haven't played the console titles nor have I seen the new movie, I have many fond memories of Looney Tunes as a kid. I didn't expect a lot from this game - all I was hoping for was an enjoyable romp that would keep me entertained for a couple of hours.

What's up, Doc? Looney Tunes: Back in Action for the Game Boy Advance is an action adventure game loosely based on the movie of the same name. The evil head of the ACME corporation has taken over Warner Bros. Studios and is trying to find the mysterious Blue Monkey Diamond. It's up to Bugs and Daffy to save the day.

Let me start off by saying that I've always had a special spot in my heart for Bugs, Daffy, and the gang (except that punk, Tweety Bird). While Mickey Mouse was out wussing things up, Looney Tunes had character and attitude before those were fashionable traits. The cartoons took ancient vaudeville material and made it new and edgy again, with expert timing and storytelling that appealed to any age, gender, or race.
