So, essentially what we have for the 2006 version of Madden on the Game Boy Advance is last year's game plus Mini Camps. The final product isn't quite as impressive a presentation as what we got last year simply because we've already been impressed with the drastic change in imagery for Madden 2005. It's still a satisfying Madden experience, since the underlying foundation was a solid one. And even when the GBA can't keep up with all the features of the console design, there's something charming about this portable version, as if it's keeping the spirit of the classic 16-bit versions alive.

The Madden NFL Football franchise has revolutionized its passing game—giving Madden NFL 06 the most groundbreaking and innovative offensive arsenal ever created. The new QB Vision Control lets you scan the field, look off defenders, and make perfect throws within your quarterback's unique field of vision. QB Precision Placement lets you put the ball exactly where you want it.

All told, Madden NFL 06 isn't much different from Madden NFL 2005. If you already own the previous game and don't care about the latest rosters, there really isn't a compelling reason to upgrade. However, if up-to-date rosters do matter to you or you don't already have a football game for your GBA, then don't hesitate to pick up Madden NFL 06.

This is not a bad game, but it doesn’t make the playoffs when compared to other handheld systems. The GBA shows its age and limitations with this title. Still, if you have a hankering for those old-style arcade sprite-based games, this may fit the bill.
