Mega Man's 15th anniversary has seen several new games ushered in during its celebration and Mega Man Zero 2 is one of the best additions to the ever expanding Mega Man library. To date, the Zero series has really become the gem in the series, with its incredibly fun gameplay, immersive backgrounds and storyline, and a hero who, in my opinion, is a lot cooler than Mega Man. Some naysayers will complain that the game is too difficult, perhaps even unbeatable. These claims are complete nonsense and should be taken lightly. That isn't to say the game is difficult, because it is, but while the game is challenging, it is not nearly as difficult as people say it is and can be beaten if you have the patience. Those familiar with the first will love what develops in the second and those new to the series will simply find one of the most enjoyable platformers on the GBA to date. Mega Man Zero 2 is just that good.

Zero Warning No, this is not a game for everyone; it’s very demanding and frequently frustrating, but it’s a lot of fun (more fun than the original, for sure) for those who have what it takes. The game also rewards the elite more than any other game of its type beating bosses while in a state of zen-like Mega Mannery grants you great stuff like their powers and elements, among other things. Yeah, Mega Man Zero 2 hates you but at least this time it’s not a sore loser.

All in All, Mega Man Zero 2 manages to remain faithful to the franchise's roots, while, at the same time, taking it in new directions with respect to characters and gameplay. Fans of the series shouldn't hesitate to pick this one up. As for everyone else, the difficulty is certainly high enough to discourage many players, but the reward for tenacity and perseverance is one of the best action games to date for the Game Boy Advance.

Mega Man Zero 2 offers a great action platforming adventure. The story is interesting, and the gameplay is fantastic. The initial difficulty, however, is sure to turn some players off right away. Those who hang in there will be rewarded with a fun, exciting robot adventure.

Overall? A very enjoyable little platformer which, sadly, few will play.

Yes, this game is hard. Like the other members of the Mega Man franchise, Zero 2 features some of the most challenging videogaming you'll ever experience because the designers never let up on the difficulty. It's meant to be a tough game, possibly to give players a real sense of accomplishment defeating these level creations. But it certainly wouldn't hurt the game if the creators sloped the difficulty curve a little more in the player's favor, especially early in the game. If you're frustrated easily, this game is not for you.

Overall, Mega Man Zero 2 is a challenging game that deserves a prime spot in the GBA library of every serious side-scrolling action fan.

Game Informer Magazine
As with most titles in the series, Mega Man Zero 2 involves a lot of jumping and shooting. Sure, there are new bells and whistles in each volume, but the core gameplay remains largely unchanged. And while the formula works fairly well, Mega Man Zero 2 doesn’t have what it takes to stand as one of the series’ better entries.
