Beautifully drawn and animated, not to mention surprisingly involving, Revenge of the Sith should please any action gamer, Star Wars fan or not.

Most people will tell you to buy the DS version over the GBA version. I beg to differ. The GBA version is, in my opinion, fully equal to the DS version if not superior because you can play it on the big screen with the Game Boy Player, it has co-op multiplayer, it is cheaper, and, besides the space combat, it works the same as the DS version. As a fan of brawlers and Star Wars, I loved this game. However, for the casual gamer, it may get tedious. Keep that in mind if you’re going to drop on it. As a brawler, it’s top notch, so fans of Golden Axe, the Turtles series, and X-Men arcade game will be very pleased with the action in this title, especially if you’re a Star Wars fan.

I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t mention that Revenge of the Sith for GBA and DS are mostly the exact same game. The GBA version has a two-player co-op mode (requires two cartridges) and retails for ten bucks less, so if you are mainly interested in the 2D beat-em-up gameplay, it’s probably the best one to get. The DS version includes a 3D space shooter mode that primarily serves as a multiplayer feature. If you’re mostly interested in that mode, read my review of the DS version and consider buying it instead of the GBA version. Either way, you’ll get a competent 2D beat-em-up with some welcome RPG-like character development features and several great bosses.

Revenge of the Sith may not go down as an all-time classic, but the innovative gameplay, excellent sound effects, and smooth graphics make it an enjoyable video game foray into the world of Star Wars.

Overall, the GBA system gets a better-than-average action game, and the DS gets that same experience enhanced with console-style space combat. Solid stuff all around, but we'd easily take the DS version if faced with the choice.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith for the GBA is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up that gives players the chance to kick and slash their way through two different variations of the film's story. Just like other games of its ilk, this isn't one that takes a long time to finish. Also, the combat is often formulaic and repetitive. To the game's credit, however, the characters have a hefty arsenal of attacks and Force powers, and the concern regarding length is dealt with somewhat by the customizable upgrades that you can earn and build upon by replaying levels.

Hacking up droids is mindless fun at first, but eventually you'll face tougher droids that require you to pound the heck out of them ad nauseum. Worst yet, the stages are tend to be long and boring with endless corridors. When the game throws the same set of five droids at you again and again (in the same room no less), enough is enough! Apparently the developers were attempting to artificially lengthen the game, but it really backfired. Even with its flaws however, Episode 3 does represent a big step up from previous Star Wars titles on the Gameboy Advance.

Ubisoft has also released a Nintendo DS version of the game, which features 3D space combat missions to break up the side-scrolling action. While the GBA version is certainly no slouch, the dual screen-enhanced version sits at only $10 more, and is worth the asking price. Gamers who haven't made the hardware jump just yet, however, will be more than content with what's offered. Revenge of the Sith is surprising in its quality, and fans should find this portable adventure to be the perfection companion to their Game Boy Advances as they sit in line waiting for the first showing's of the saga's epic conclusion.

Mobile Action-Keilerei mit stimmiger Präsentation, aber dezent langweilig. [...] Die 2D-Laserduelle erinnern vom Spielablauf her sogar an "Lego Star Wars". Trotz orchestralem Soundtrack will hier aber nicht so richtig Spielspaß und "Star Wars"-Feeling aufkommen, was auch am schleppenden Ablauf liegt: Ständig beharken Euch lästige und mit der Zeit nervige Gegner. Ebenso schade: Die dreidimensionalen Raumschiff-Einsätze der DS-Version entfallen hier komplett - sonst gibt's keine Unterschiede.
