Wakeboarding Unleashed featuring Shaun Murray

One of the things that isn't in the official rating stats is my own "grin factor." Well, the Will Hill grin factor was up to about an 8.5. I just had to smile playing this game. When I pulled off a good trick combo it was satisfying. When I took a spill I knew why and did not feel some arbitrary game god had struck me down for no reason. Wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray is a fun, solidly-built game that should be in anyone's pack for take-along summer play.

Un heureux événement que ce titre de wake. Pas franchement indispensable mais bien sympa à manier, il vous tiendra à votre console un bon petit moment pour peu que vous trouviez un ami avec qui jouer. En solo, le mode Carrière est assez difficile mais malheureusement les autres modes de jeu ne servent pas à grand chose et sont lassants au possible.

I don't think any "extreme sports" game will ever be as versatile as skateboarding, since other extreme sports designs have far too many limitations. The console designers worked within their limitations and created a rather impressive, extreme rendition of the extreme sport. On the Game Boy Advance, there were far more limitations that the developers had to work with, and in this case, these were technical limitations. There's enough here to keep casual folks busy, but don't expect a huge assortment of challenges in the game design.

Für den GC hat es leider nicht gereicht. Dafür könnt ihr auf dem GBA auf knapp sechs Strecken eure Trick-stärke unter Beweis stellen. Die Animationen des Fahrers können sich sehen lassen, was man von der Umgebung nicht behaupten kann. Da hat man auf jeden Fall schon Besseres gesehen. Drei Mehrspieler-Games werden ohne Linkfunktion auf einem GBA gespielt, indem man sich abwechselt. Der Trendsport-ausflug auf dem Wasser ist zwar recht spaßig, aber nicht so überzeugend wie Tony Hawks konkurrenzloses Trickfest.

Wakeboarding Unleashed may not grab you in the same way it did on the consoles a few months ago, but if you're obsessed with the sport and/or don't have your PS2 or Xbox near you, this version is a good way to fill that gap of boredom in your day. For the rest of us, it would actually make a good bargain purchase once the price drops, especially if you don't already have one of the GBA Tony Hawk games, so at least it's not a total travesty. Still, for now you should be playing something better.
