Babe and Friends

Obwohl sich dieser Titel deutlich an ein jüngeres Publikum wendet und sich das Gameplay im Verlauf des Spiels nicht sonderlich ändert, müsst ihr euch in den höheren Leveln doch sehr anstrengen, um das Schaf erfolgreich ans Ziel zu brigen. Aufgrund des sich permanent steigernden Schwierigkeitsgrades sollten auch Spieler einen Blick riskieren, die gerne etwas zum Knobeln haben wollen. Allen Fans des niedlichen rosa Ferkels wird dieser interessante Titel sicherlich gefallen.

Babe and Friends is a straightforward puzzle game featuring the lovable pig from the movie Babe and all his barnyard friends. Babe, a skilled sheep-pig, must maneuver his sheep through various dangers by placing obstacles in their path and oinking at them. Since the sheep only walk in a straight line, it becomes Babe's task to make sure they don't fall in holes, get stuck in corners etc. Reminiscent of Chip's Challenge, Babe and Friends has pleasant graphics, an easy learning curve and a wonderfully uncomplicated interface. Both puzzle game enthusiasts and fans of the talkative pig would be well advised to pick up this charming title.

The graphics are well done; you can see Babe shake his little pink rump as he directs traffic, and all of the other farm animals have a few frames of animation to set them apart from being just static sprites. The sound effects are somewhat odd. Babe doesn't remotely sound like a pig, and the effects of him walking through water resemble a platform character being temporarily powered up. The gameplay is simple and somewhat addictive; you must put in a surprising amount of thought into the later puzzles to solve them. While this title isn't going to win any awards, it's a satisfying way to spend some free time.

Simpliste dans sa réalisation, Babe est un jeu assez profond dans son principe, sorte de puzzle-réfléxion plutôt corsé, où l'esprit logique des joueurs est mis à contribution - un bon casse-tête.

Babe and Friends is not a very difficult game, especially if you're an experienced adult gamer. But it does have enough challenge to keep you interested for some time. Not everyone will be able to get around the license and the thought of playing as walking pork chops, but if you can, Babe and Friends offers some enjoyable light gaming fun for those long trips. The biggest issue for adult gamers is the game's length; you may not want to spend the money for a game that will only keep you entertained for three or so hours. For younger players, Babes and Friends is a perfect balance of gameplay and difficulty.

Même si le challenge proposé n’est pas élevé, il leur donnera suffisamment de fil à retordre. Ils pourront, par ailleurs, abandonner une partie en cours pour la reprendre ultérieurement grâce à un système de passwords simplifié. La réalisation est assez réussie et l’ambiance sonore soignée. Finalement, Babe et ses amis est un simple clone de Sokoban remis au goût du jour. On aime!
