The Famicom/NES version of Dragon Quest/Warrior III is the only title in the Dragon Quest series which does not feature the Dragon Quest overture music at title screen.

One of the reasons for the extreme popularity of Dragon Quest series, particularly during its early beginnings in Japan was the high quality manga-like illustration work done in the game by Akira Toriyama, one of the most popular manga artists of all time. Toriyama is most widely known for his martial-arts epic, Dragon Ball but has also worked on games like Chrono Trigger and Tobal.
Dragon Warrior III was the first RPG where the quest begins with the hero waken up by his mother. This opening has be copied by many classics, such as Chrono Trigger, Golden Sun and several others.
