All Game Guide
Nintendo's idea of dusting off relics from their old Game & Watch line of handhelds is truly inspired as the simple, yet challenging games in the series are perfectly suited to the Game Boy format. Game & Watch Gallery 3 features a strong lineup of titles that retro-files and casual gamers alike will enjoy.
Nintendo Land
Allright, it sounds as if I've been grumbling a lot, but I still adore the G&W Gallery formula, and this third volume is full of it's typical charm. It's just a teeny bit under par compared to the second game in the series, but don't let that stop you from enjoying a perfectly decent dose of classic, Mario-flavored good fun.
Total! (Germany)
It's not going to take a permanent place in the back of your Game Boy's cartridge slot, but Game & Watch is a great diversion -- and each game pak has gotten increasingly better. This one is indeed the best of the bunch, simply because there are so many extras to uncover. Just don't expect anything more than what they are -- simple games for simple technology. We salute you, Gumpei Yokoi.
Mega Fun
Daily Radar
At DailyRadar, we're all for exploring roots and remembering where gaming came from. After all, without the past, there could be no future. However, we have to wonder at why the Game and Watch games, Nintendo's first foray into the world of hand-held gaming, would warrant a return - this time on the Game Boy. Game & Watch Gallery 3 contains five of the classic games -- Egg, Turtle Bridge, Green House, Mario Bros., and Donkey Kong Jr. in both classic form (just like the old systems) and updated versions with more graphics and prettier sound. While fun may be had, it only lasts for about five minutes before the playability of the games is worn out. Luckily the game contains secrets and surprises for classic gaming nuts who have the patience to get high scores in the games, but we hardly find it worth the time. Spend your Game Boy gaming dollar on something that wasn't played to death two decades ago.
