Just a few screens before you reach the Chocobo egg, there's a perfect spot to train: a screen with four wolves that respawn instantly when you leave. This isn't so useful when you're passing through, but when you come from below, you're right in line for a shot through all of them. Use a weapon that can launch a projectile when powered up, to take out all four. Then go down one screen, wait for your will power to recharge, and do it again. You can gain levels very quickly this way.
