Now for my overall grade. This game was possibly the best thing that ever happened to Gameboy. Some contend that the Zelda gameboy game was better...No. It may have been more fun, but it lacked things that FF Adventure was full of. Others say Pokemon is the choice for Gameboy RPGFans. Don't think so. Pokemon is way too easy and doesn't have enough depth. In the end, this game is the bomb and don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise.

There is always a sense that a great adventure ahead and the adventure is indeed great. Great puzzles, solid graphics and an atmospheric score -- there is little argument that this title deserves to be on any Game Boy reviewer's list as a must buy. RPG gamers may lament at the fact that it has a shallow story line, or that it isn't RPG enough...but there's little argument that Action/RPGs translate very well on handheld consoles. And in that respect, Final Fantasy Adventure sits nicely in a respectable position behind The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening as a top Action/RPG title for the Game Boy. If you can't get enough of Link's Awakening, this title is definitely a game that you should pick up.

Portable Review
The game’s replay value and longevity are both pretty good. Final Fantasy Adventure will probably last you a good long time if you play it from beginning to end. On top of that, I find that the game is still pretty replayable, even despite there being a limited number of side quests. Stop playing for a month or two, and the game will feel much, much fresher. Overall, Final Fantasy Adventure is an excellent game. Not only is it a great example of what a Game Boy game should be, it’s a great example of what a video game should be. No matter how good later games in the series are, Final Fantasy Adventure still holds a place in my heart as the best game in the series, and one of the greatest handheld games past or present.

If you’re expecting Final Fantasy in the traditional sense, you’re going to be disappointed. However, if you play the game for a while, you just might find that it’s equally entertaining in its own fashion. Although the decision to label this with the Final Fantasy name was clearly nothing more than a means of making it more recognizable, the game is certainly a must-have for your system. Check out eBay or your local game shop for a used copy of this title and prepare to spend a good long while venturing to the heights of Mount Illusia.

Final Fantasy Adventure from Square Soft adds the new ingredient of close combat action to the traditional R.P.G. formula and the mix is awesome! Not only do you explore a vast world, uncover it's secrets and undertake a quest to set it free, you also leap into the fray with a sword or axe flashing in your hand.

Many people don't even acknowledge this game as part of the Final Fantasy series and that's a crime. This is a great playing adventure, light on RPG styling, and just concentrates on all-out action. Fans of the Zelda series will be especially pleased with this one, and there's nothing to be ashamed of for Final Fantasy fans. They should spend their time complaining about Mystic Quest.
