Since it isn't necessary to have played FFL I or II to enjoy Legend III, new players can jump right in with the latest and greatest Legend. Once again, Square Soft has created another Legend in its own time.

If you can get over the bizarre plot and even more bizarre translation, the depth of FFLIII will suck you in. There's loads to discover, and you'll spend ages working out the different characters/mutant/cyborg combinations you can create by defeating bad guys and installing or eating their remains (don't ask). Don't expect a game up to the standards of the big console FF titles, though, otherwise you might be a bit disappointed. Shame about the slow-paced combat, but you can't have everything, can you?

OVERALL, I'd have to go for an 87%. WHAT?!? Making an average out of these all 85's makes for an 85% average. However, those grades were on each thing alone. When all these things come together to make the game, I just can't explain it, except that it makes the game more fun. Overall, the game DESERVES an 87% and that's final. I hope this review was somewhat enlightening! ;)

All in all, Final Fantasy Legend III stands out as a unique installment in the Final Fantasy Legend series. It is a complex RPG that is also accessible to novice players. The only drawbacks are the game's graphics, an imperfect soundtrack (still very good compared to other Game Boy games) and a poorly designed equipment screen that makes distinguishing equipped items of the same class almost impossible.

If it weren't for the stale dishwater battles and a confusing equipment system, this game would've made for a great 12-hour distraction. Instead, it's a title that's almost appealing but isn't. It was worth digging up Jane Fonda for all right, mostly just to see her legs get blown off by a distraught "Hip" Tanaka.

The only one in the series worth playing, is also one of the GameBoy's best. MasterMegid (858) 3.83 Stars3.83 Stars3.83 Stars3.83 Stars3.83 Stars
