In this latest installment, Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, (the first for the Game Boy), the spunky superhero gets slashed by sentient buzz saws, impaled on plunging icicles, and pushed off ledges by evil, grinning beach balls. (Fortunately, the violence is more implied than real; whenever Mega Man buys it, he explodes in a nebulous poof.) What makes this game especially attractive to adults is that you can begin your quest on any one of four stages, thus avoiding that linear, start-over-again-from-scratch quality that only 12-year-olds find hypnotic.

Awesome! Truly awesome! I never thought Capcom could really pull it off, but they far exceeded my expectations!! the music is righteous, and the graphics are excellent. the big surprise was the downright stupendous control of Mega Man, as few Gameboy games have this.
Power Play
Hoppla, wenn Rockman World sich eng an die Megaman-Spiele auf dem Nintendo hält, dann hab' ich glatt was verpaßt. Das Modul ist ziemlich schwer, macht aber einen irren Spaß: Wer in einer Welt nicht weiterkommt, spielt eine andere an; wenn man erstmal eine Welt "gepackt" hat, gehen die anderen einfacher, insbesondere da Rockman zwischen den "geklauten" Eigenschaften umschalten darf. Die Grafik ist schön übersichtlich und nicht zu detailliert. Sehr gut auch die Soundeffekte, die schön mit dem Geschehen auf dem Bildschirm synchronisiert sind. Fazit: Action, gemischt mit Jump & Run-Elementen, die man als Game-Boy-Fan haben sollte.
Portable Review
The replay value mainly stems from the fun gameplay. Other than that, there's not really that much to keep you interested in the game. If you're looking for a game with a great deal of replayability, I suggest you pick up one of the first three Megaman games for the NES, or if you wish to stick to a portable motif, pick up Megaman IV or V for the Game Boy.
Nintendo Life
Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge is a decent first attempt at a handheld Mega Man game. It's fairly fun, but for some reason, you'll just have this feeling you're playing a watered down version of the NES games, which will end up making you want to play them instead. The game's over in a flash - with just six stages, it's shorter than every other game in the entire franchise.
All Game Guide
If you enjoy side-scrollers in the Mega Man vein, you'll probably enjoy Dr. Wily's Revenge. However, if you're easily frustrated by jumping puzzles, this is one title you should stay far, far away from.

Grafisch ist Rockman World gut gelungen. Die Sprites sind wie beim Original sehr putzig, also rundum gelungen. Der Sound ist nicht schlecht. Angesichts dessen, daß das Programm oftmals unfair und sehr schwierig ist, sollten wirklich nur Profi-Spieler oder hartgesottene Mega Man-Fans wie ich sich an diesem Modul probieren.
Unbalanced rewards, a small playing field, and a sluggish hero make simply playing the game a chore, let along beating it. The game is worth beating (and not just with a sledgehammer), but I may only be saying that because I’m a hopeless Mega Man fan with a Backloggery to look after, and not because any of the decent aspects of the game are strong enough to shine through the frustrations and make the game any fun. Unless you’re cheating, clairvoyant, exceptionally talented, or have no standards, the game will almost certainly have long overstayed its welcome by the time you see the ending credits.
