Brill! There aren't that many decent shoot 'em ups available on the Gameboy, but Contra more than redresses the balance. The blasting action is brilliant and really addictive - more than enough to keep any shoot 'em up veteran happy. With great graphics and thumping soundtracks, Contra is an essential buy. Go forth and purchase this now!

Yes, the two-player mode is gone and it's way too short (a meager five levels) to be a true Contra game, but this hardly detracts from a great portable Contra entry. As the only original Contra on the Game Boy, this is a worthwhile pick up for any owner. It may not be as good as the original, but it doesn't get much better than this with action games on the console.

Nach "Nemesis" liefert Konami einen weiteren Actionhammer für den Game Boy ab: Probotector ist eine hervorragend spielbare Ballerdelikatesse, die ihresgleichen sucht. Die Grafik ist erstaunlich detailreich, der Sound fantastisch und mitreißend - unbedingt über Kopfhörer genießen. Aber was soll's: Wer urwüchsig ballern will, dem ist dieses Actionkonzentrat im Hosentaschenformat schwer zu empfehlen.

Now Game Boy gets into the act with Operation C - only this version may be even tougher and more exciting than the original! Once again you've entered an alien world where friendly faces are about as rare as purple cows. Fortunately, you're armed to the teeth with a new array of super weapons. So what does the C stand for? Challenge!

Operation C feels like Contra. It is not simply a matter of sound or graphics, the game offers the same experience and play style.
