    Back In Pac

In the immortal words of either Pac-Man or Fozzie The Bear: "Wakka-wakka-wakka."

    • Classic maze-chomping action
    • Two players alternating play
    • Save high scores

What made Pac-Man an icon of the 1980s and an icon of video game culture? Highly addictive gameplay and shrewd marketing deals of the sort that Mary-Kate and Ashley must lie awake at night wishing they could dream of. Although he's often imitated, it's impossible to replace the original Pac-Man, now part of the NES Classics series for Game Boy Advance.

Pac-Man's brilliant maze-based action made Namco a major player in video games. Not only did this quarter-guzzling yellow dynamo capture the attention of gamers everywhere, it spawned game sequels, cartoons and snappy T-shirt designs. In true American fashion, Pac-Man's cultural immortality was assured by the emergence of a hit single, "Pac-Man Fever."

In the NES Classics game, Pac-Man gets to do what he does best: chomp pellets and ghosts. You maneuver the mouth-man through a maze filled with pellets, fruit, power pellets and ghosts. Blinky, Pinky, Clyde and Inky aren't real smart, but they sure move fast as the game progresses. Two players can take turns mastering the maze, either on the same Game Pak or through the Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable.

    Bottom Line

Witness Pac-Man's swingin' bachelor days prior to Ms. Pac-Man in the game that defined a generation.

    Catch Pac-Mania again

Wakka-wakka-wakka. Namco put itself on the map with this ingenious maze-based game. Chomp the pellets and fruit and elude the cute but deadly ghosts. Turn the tables by eating a power pellet, then eat the ghosts. You’ll advance through mazes legendary for their brilliant design. The gimmick song inspired by Pac-Man is long forgotten. But Pac-Man’s classic gameplay lives on. Prepare to enjoy.

Back Cover - 2600 (US), 1981:
It's your job to keep PAC-MAN as happy as possible. You must guide him around the maze so that he can eat video wafers and power pills. Protect him from the ghosts unless he has the super strength of a power pill. If he does have the super strength, help him chase the ghosts and gobble them up before they gobble him.

Atari 5200 Catalog 1982:
This game cartridge looks like the arcade original, sounds like the arcade original, and is just as much fun as the arcade original! (It even has an intermission between games.)

PAC-MAN races around a maze, gobbling up dots and dodging ghosts. (Just like the arcade game, these ghosts come in four colors - red, pink, green and orange.) In the four corners of the maze there are power pills. When PAC-MAN eats one, the ghosts all turn blue, and he can eat them, too. But he has to hurry before the spell wears off, or they'll devour him.

Atari Catalog 1981:
Adapted from one of the most popular video arcade games ever created, ATARI's PAC-MAN, which differs slightly from the original, is sure to be a big hit in your family.

In this engaging game, you guide the PAC-MAN around a maze to gobble up dots for points, while dodging ghosts. In the four corners of the maze are special tablets. When PAC-MAN eats one, he changes color and can then eat the ghost. But he has to hurry and catch the ghosts before he changes color again, or they'll eat him.

    Pac-Man's got the Munchies!

Gobble gobble, gulp! Who's munching Power Pellets? Who's zipping around the maze at top speed, chomping up ghosts and scoring big points? It's Pac-Man, the world's hungriest character! Devour a fruit treat and get a big bonus score. But if you're caught by the little haunters, you're ghostflakes! Use the warp tunnel for a quick escape.

Now play this classic game alone or with a friend. Connect your Game Boys for double Pac-Man mania. Scramble around your own maze and chomp a ghost. It pops up in your opponent's maze, and he's got to skedaddle even faster!

  • Scarf up the Fruit Treats for even more points!
  • See the whole maze at once or zoom in on your part of the path.
  • Even up the competition by choosing a different round than your opponent.
