This is a cheat only available for the pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow and Green versions. This is because it takes advantage of a glitch in the hexadecimal coding of the game. Just follow the simple steps below, and catch probably the rarest pokemon throughout history, Mew!
1. Preparations
NOTE!
If you have finished the game or gotten far, chances are, you may have done things that can't let you catch Mew. If this is the case, think for a minute and go "New Game" to catch Mew.
Make sure you have a Pokemon that knows fly.
DON'T battle the trainer facing north at route 8, directly south of the house from the underground tunnel.
DON'T battle the trainer facing north at route 25, on the way to Bill's house. He is a youngster that tells you about how his father took him to a great party at the S.S. Anne.
2. Route 8
If you stand in front of the door directly north of the man, you won't get seen. This is good place to save your game. Take one step down, and lightning-quick hit the start button. Select your flying pokemon and fly to Cerulean.
3. Route 25
Find the trainer you didn't battle earlier and defeat him. After the battle, fly to Lavender town.
4. Mew!
Go left into route 8. Before you get there, the menu will pop up. Exit it, and Mew will appear! It knows pound and is at Level 7.
