Either coincidence or not, the ninja Hattori Hanzo is actually a real samurai in medieval Japan. The "real" Hattori Hanzo served under the daimyo Tokugawa Ieyasu. Fans of Nobunaga's Ambition 1 & 2 will recognize this.
