Die drei anwählbaren Hintergrundmusiken passen mit ihren flotten Rhythmen nicht so recht zum vergrübelten Gameplay, doch über Geschmack läßt sich bekanntlich streiten. Unstrittig ist dagegen der Suchteffekt der Spielidee — nicht umsonst ist Shanghai neben „Tetris“ das meistkopierte Game der Software-Geschichte!
Power Play
Im Rahmen der Game Boy-Möglichkeiten wurde “Shanghai" gut umgesetzt An die farbenprächtigen Computerversionen kommt es freilich nicht heran.
Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM)
GameBoy Shanghai is a pretty good version of the oriental solitaire game, but I have a real problem with the size of the tiles. They're almost impossible to distinguish unless you play in the number/letter mode (a good addition to the program). In the end, however, all this is is another puzzler.
