This Game Boy title is not a port of the first TMNT game for the NES, it is the start of a separate series of TMNT games. Both the Game Boy and the NES series contain three games.

The Game Boy games:

• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan (1990)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Back from the Sewers (1991)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Radical Rescue (1993)

The NES games:

• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game (1990)
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: The Manhattan Project (1992)

The last two games for the NES are are side-scrolling beat 'em-ups like Streets of Rage, while the rest of them are platform games.

The original 1989 release for NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) was a huge success. The kick-butt antics of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became so popular that a cartoon movie was released and was also a box office hit.
