Overall, this is a fun, solid, and graphically superior fighting title that will make a good addition to anyone’s gaming library , especially to fans or new contestants to the 3-D fighting genre. Despite the somewhat violent sounding name, there is nothing more bloody or violent than any other 3-D title out, so it’s safe for adults and kids alike. The younger fighting game fans out there will probably have a lot of fun with this one, due to the simple button combos and the ability to turn into big, vicious looking beasts.
All in all, Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is a very fun 3D fighting game. It would be easy to write it off as the first GCN fighter to be available, but the game is legitimate and brings new concepts to the genre. Unfortunately, most of the game’s depth is rendered entirely optional by the relative ease one can implement a “button masher” strategy to their gaming style. The casual gamer will probably have much fun with this game, both in single player and with friends. The hardcore gamer would do well to arrange at least one other partner who is willing to master every element of the gameplay system. Only then will they truly appreciate the fun of the juggle combo system and the strategy of the Zoanthrope Hyper Beast system. In addition, the tiny black and blue disc is wickedly attractive.
Mir machte Bloody Roar schon auf der altgedienten PSone Spaß und auch die neueste Auskopplung ist ein feines Stück Software. Allerdings finde ich schade, dass die Move-Palette der Kämpfer so wenig Umfang bietet. Hier merkt man eben, dass die Gewichtung auf schnelle Action und ein unkompliziertes Kampfsystem gelegt wurde. Meist gewinnt nicht derjenige, der die meisten Moves auswendig kann, sondern der Player, der das Verwandlungs-Feature zum richtigen Zeitpunkt einsetzt. Vorbildlich ist jedoch die große Menge freispielbarer Boni, die viel zur Langzeit-Motivation beiträgt.
Bloody Roar Primal Fury est un jeu de baston plaisant où la possibilité de se transformer en monstre apporte un réel plus. Au prix où l'on trouve ce jeu, il serait dommage qu'il ne fasse pas parti de votre ludothèque.
It's flashy, fast, and prettier than a Playboy playmate. A quality fighter that'll show off the visual clout of your Cube, and a perfect stopgap till Soul Calibur 2 arrives.
Besides the unique zoanthropic morphing, this release won't do much for hardcore fighting fanatics, but as I've said before, it's a great release for newcomers to the ring. As it stands now, this is the only traditional fighting game for the GameCube, and will remain so until the distant releases of Soul Calibur 2 and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
As is standard for pretty much all console fighting games, Primal Fury has a few hidden characters to unlock, but also features various cheats to unlock that substantially alter the game, both in visuals and gameplay mechanics. All in all, considering both what Nintendo fighting fans had to deal with during the Nintendo 64 era, and what Eighting had to work with in Bloody Roar 3, Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is an excellent first release for the budding GameCube fighting game library.
This category is once again, pretty standard. Obviously, since this is a fighting game, there is some violence, characters are beaten to a pulp, stabbed, mangled, crushed, and bitten (by animals of course). However, no blood is shown and in my opinion it is all very tastefully done. Then there is the sexual content. I'm guessing that Bloody Roar has taken a page out of Tecmo's book and added the now almost mandatory 'jiggle.' It is extremely *badly* and unrealistically handled, which of course makes it noticable. A lot of the characters wear skimpy outfits, and Jenny the Bat, when in bat form, is seemingly naked (if not striped 'conveniantly') and it appears that something below the waist is showing (but I'm not sure if that's what it is). However, unless you are writing a review and looking for problems, you (and your children) probably won't notice.
Lighting fast gameplay, great visuals , and kick ass multiplayer make this game an excellent purchase for GameCube owners. If you GameCubers are looking for your fighting game fix , then Bloody Roar : Primal Fury wouldn’t be a bad way to start.
And so Bloody Roar for the GameCube remains exactly where it’s always been in the fighting game kingdom food chain: just below the best and far above the worst. It’s instantly fun and boasts a really strong gimmick but it lacks the gameplay depth, balance, and attention to detail that make top fighters shine. As the only real traditional fighter available for the Cube (no, Super Smash Bros. Melee doesn’t count), it works just fine for now though it probably won’t be long before you?re wishing Soul Calibur 2 were here.
Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is an enjoyable fighting game that looks and plays well. Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot to keep coming back for.
From Japanese developer Eighting and publisher Activision comes Bloody Roar: Primal Fury, a traditional 3D fighter complete with a wide selection of stylized brawlers, lots of original locales, a solidly devised move and combo system (if a little unoriginal), beast transformations and more. Primal Fury is a semi-sequel to the PlayStation 2 Bloody Roar 3 with noticeable additions including several new gameplay modes, six new stages and three totally remodeled, two new characters and significantly updated graphics.
This game is good, but my only disappointment is that as with all the fighting games you can pretty much just keep hitting the same button, performing the same moves over and over again and you will more than likely still come out on top. No skill is needed, although it is good if you can learn their special moves as it makes the game more enjoyable and fun to watch.
Bloody Roar fait partie de ces jeux de baston qui ne nécessitent pas de potasser longuement le mode d'emploi avant de se lancer dans les combats. On s'amuse beaucoup dès le premier round ! Le manque d'innovation et la jouabilité hasardeuse passent bien vite au second plan derrière l'excellente réalisation du produit.
Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is a good start for fighting games on the GameCube, the game lacks a level of depth but does require some skill. Harder to execute moves and combos would have helped this game from getting that "button masher" mentality that the game has earned.
Perhaps it's unfair to expect all that much from the first traditional fighting game for the GameCube. Then again, the Dreamcast did get the exceptional Soul Calibur right off the bat. Overall, Bloody Roar: Primal Fury isn't as good as any of the latest installments in the major 3D fighting game series out there, though it's totally competent and quite appealing in some ways. It's a fine way to show off your GameCube and a fine way to kill some time, especially if you've got some friends around who'd be willing to try it. Even if they're not into fighting games, you wouldn't be lying if you tried to reassure them that it's easy to get into and get good at Bloody Roar: Primal Fury.
While I would have preferred a port of DOA3 from the XBOX rather than an update of Bloody Roard 3 from the PS2, I was overall satisfied with the experience. So satisfied that I purchased the game after the rental. While I don't think a weekend rental could fill you (mostly because of the high learning curve), many might not want to spend the 50 clams. It was a toss up, but I was desperate for a fighter game on the Cube. DOA3 had its life on my XBOX, but totally love the controls of my Cube better.
I'm a fighting game fan, but I grew bored with Bloody Roar pretty quick. Even the anime was shoddy. Wait for Soul Calibur 2.
The single-player game in Bloody Roar: Primal Fury has a lot of menu options, but all of them boil down to one kind of play: fights in flat, unadorned arenas against a challenging, if uncreative, computer opponent. There’s a certain old-school purity in this, but after a few hours of button-mashing fun, the fizz starts to go flat, and no amount of motion blurs or loud rockem-sockem sound effects will hide that. The cheat menu does a good job of mixing things up, but this is no Tekken, and the shallowness of the combat system becomes apparent too quickly. To be fair, games like this are really built for two-player fun. In that respect, Roar does reasonably well. The ability to transform into awesome beasts is a great hook, and it plays that for all it’s worth. With a roster of 16 characters, friends will find their favorites and you’ll enjoy battling each other. But again, the appeal of over-the-top effects, non-interactive finishing moves, and buxom ladies has a short expiration date.
As the first real fighter to hit the GameCube, Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is not bad. Playing with friends is good fun and there's nothing like stomping on a massive lion with a little penguin. Some of the old skin has been shed to reveal a fresh look, but this prizefighting animal is still a few hairballs away from becoming a champion.
There's not much to see, and the audio is equally weak. The soundtrack is forgettable, and I really hate how my fighter screams like a little girl upon being defeated - especially since he's a guy! Bloody Roar is a competent fighter, but Activision missed a few opportunities to make this special. What ever happened to "morphing"? The characters here instantly transform into creatures, and it's downright unspectacular. Also, while the arenas are enclosed, you can't knock your opponent through the walls, even after the walls are damaged (unlike previous editions). Overall, Bloody Roar provides some mildy amusing fighting action, but ultimately comes off as shallow and forgettable.
Pour le même prix vous pouvez avoir un jeu qui aurait 8 points de plus dans chaque critère, je vous le donne dans le mille c’est Soul Calibur 2(la foule, étonnée : « Noooon ? »). Alors revendez-moi tout de suite cette daube et courrez achetez le merveilleux, le fantastique, le magnifique, SC2(lisez donc le test de Darkfiston…) !! Bon, je sais c’est mal de comparer, mais de toute façon ce jeu est nul, un point c’est tout !
