Disney/Pixar's Finding Nemo

If you liked the movie you will love the game and if you haven’t seen the movie chances are you will want to after playing this game. Finding Nemo is one of the best movie-licensed games I’ve seen so far this year and I highly recommend it for kids and their parents or anyone just looking for a fun and unique game.

Für junge Spieler ist das Spiel spitze! Die kunterbunten Wasserwelten sind hüsch anzusehen und werden euch sicherlich gefallen. Zudem veranlassen einen die witzigen Kommentare häufig zum Schmunzeln. Der geringe Spielumfang hingegen weiß nicht gerade zu begeistern. Zu schnell seid ihr am Ende eurer Reise angelangt.

Admittedly, Finding Nemo truly is a kid’s game; but unlike a lot of titles geared toward the younger set, this one is actually fun and well designed, with great graphics and good sound. Following the storyline and comedic tone of Pixar’s movie, you play as four of the main characters. Long load times mar the title, but lots of cutscenes are mixed with the action. The title’s only worth it for kids, but at least they’ll enjoy it.

GameCube owners who tought the days of sloppy ports were over get a reminder that a newer console doesn't always guarantee a better version of a multiplatform title. Released at the same time as the PlayStation 2 incarnation, GameCube's Finding Nemo ironically fails where the platform has traditionally been strong: in the framerate and load time departments. It's a darn shame, too, because Traveller's Tales actually crafted a fun little underwater adventure -- a sort of Ecco the Dolphin meets Crash Bandicoot. Sure, with heavy-hitters like Sonic and Mario, the competition on GameCube is fierce. But Finding Nemo looks and plays different enough to stand out from the rest of the GameCube lineup.

Overall, it’s very easy to pick on Finding Nemo, both because it’s a kid’s game and based on a movie, but in this case, I think it’s warranted. If Finding Nemo was just too easy and too simplistic, then I could excuse it, because that’s what makes a good kid’s game. However, there are just too many problems, both technical and otherwise, with this game for me to simply overlook because Finding Nemo is intended for children. Making a game intended for children does not make poor game design OK. While children may indeed enjoy parts of Finding Nemo, it is likely it will greatly frustrate them in the long run, and frustration for frustration’s sake is simply no fun. There are very few redeeming qualities about the video game version of Finding Nemo, and it should be avoided accordingly. Simply put, these fish have gone very, very bad.

Un titre tel que celui-ci, exempt de toute pratique marketing douteuse, sans une mention "revivez le film" sur sa jaquette aurait sûrement obtenu la moyenne. Les enfants, est-il besoin de le répéter, ne sont pas des cartes de crédits sur pattes, et bâcler des softs leur étant adressés est honteux. Il en résulte comme d'habitude un jeu lacunaire, inintéressant et peu jouable. N'achetez pas ce varech indigeste. Le film paraît au cinéma dans peu de temps et en DVD relativement rapidement, et il est sincèrement d'une toute autre qualité. Pour un prix deux fois moindre qui plus est. Dans le monde de la mer, les Snorkies, dépités, s'en sont allés.
