Game Chronicles
Outlaw Golf is one of the best golf games I have ever played on the GameCube or any system for that matter. It’s fun and realistic with a wonderful cast of wild, crazy, and often naughty characters. It comes in second only to Links for realism and visuals, but as far as console golf games go, this one sets a new high bar that should last for quite some time. Don’t even waste your time with that Tiger Woods golf game. This is the one you want to be playing.

Golf fans rejoice! Are you sick of the normal drudgery of those serious golf games? Outlaws Golf just might be your medicine. With loose but logical controls, humorous gameplay, and more ways to stroke than, I’ll stop the punch line right there, there are kids reading. So I will end this in kid-like fashion with the help of Reading Rainbow: Outlaw Golf is a fun game. I like it and I think that you will like it too. Da, da, da!!

Outlaw Golf may be masquerading as a cartoony and loose golf game, but don’t be fooled -- this is a hardcore golf game. The less-than real characters and whacky sensibility might scare off the hardcore crowd and the casual player might be letdown by the fact it’s not as cartoony as they may have been led to believe. It’s the middle crowd that will get the most out of Outlaw Golf, with it’s complete controls, snappy swing system, and solid presentation.

Worth Playing
Outlaw Golf manages to be both a realistically entertaining golf game in terms of physics and an off-beat quirky experience that is rarely seen in games these days, let alone golf games. The various characters that you can control are wildly original and the unlockable goodies are definitely worth the effort it takes to get’em. If you are looking for an easy-to-play and amusing golf experience on the GameCube then Outlaw Golf is the way to go.

Outlaw Golf is a deceptive game, because while its theme suggests fast-paced arcade-style golf, the actual gameplay really isn't like that at all.

Outlaw Golf is a pretty good game. The presentation and humor take it a long way and there is some longevity in completing the many tasks. But you can't have a golf game that doesn't offer quality golf. And the course designs just don't work here. For a game that's supposed to be extreme, the courses are incredibly tame. This isn't a bad pick-up if you want a game with humor and girls with undulating bodies, but if you're looking for a great golf game to last you a few months, this is one to walk away from.

Outlaw Golf has some interesting concepts and is highly suggestive, but it falls flat on its face as a golf video game. The swing mechanism is far too sensitive and is only made worse by the composure system, and putting will infuriate the most patient of players. It's a decent rental if only for the moderate shock value, but once the humor runs cold you're left with a golf game that simply isn't any fun to play. Chip this one into the water hazard and forget about it.

Adding insult to injury, poor play results in a decreased "composure", making the game even harder! You can recoup composure by beating up your caddy, and this goofy sequence employs a standard meter that should have been used to swing your club! Other annoyances include poor course design and lengthy pauses in the action. I normally enjoy whimsical sports games, but Outlaw Golf really turned me off.
