Get this game if you are a true Sonic fan, or even a casual one. This game offers tons of different things to do that include: six different playable characters, a new mission mode, and even the Game Gear Sonic games. Even though there are some minor complaints this is a game worthy to be in your GameCube collection!

If there's one thing I dislike about Sonic Adventure, it's how characters like Sonic and Tails have been given voices. Bad idea! Their kiddie voices and corny dialogue make the cut scenes almost unbearable. Sonic Adventure may not be the visceral thrill it once was, but it still has an appealing charm and arcade sensibility that's hard to resist. If you missed out on it the first time around, Sonic Adventure DX is worth a look.

There are 6 different character games to play, all of which will give you a slightly different experience. When you beat all of them, you can unlock Super Sonic for a short extra mission. Once you collect all the Emblems, you will gain access to all of the Game Gear games and Metal Sonic in trial mode. This is nice, but if you were really good at the original version, you will only see about 10 hours of actual game play, with another 1-10 hours being spent on your Chao (if you are into that kind of thing). If you are a Sonic fan, this game will be just another pickup in a long line of them. For others, rent it first and see if you like it.

Sonic Adventure stars six playable characters, headlined by series regulars Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Each character has a unique style of gameplay -- Sonic gets to places as fast as possible, Knuckles hunts hidden fragments of Chaos Emeralds, and Big the Cat ... well, he just fishes. Together, they fight to save the strange city of Station Square from the insane plans of Sonic's eternal nemesis, Dr. Robotnik. It seems he's got a dastardly new scheme in the works, and only through a powerful alliance of five furry animals and one robot can he be defeated. So it goes.

Sonic Adventure DX doesn’t quite deliver what Sega promised prior to its release. That doesn't automatically mean the game is a failure, though. Despite some rough edges, it's an enjoyable game. If you still own the Dreamcast original you might not want to fork over the cash for this one, otherwise it's worth looking into.

Players new to Sonic will do better to play his 2D outings, as has been said before. Still, Sonic Adventure DX is a good way for Sega to make up for the whole "we canned the Dreamcast because it wasn't popular in the US, but we had some really good titles on it that the US liked" thing. If you've got $20 to blow and a need for speed, it's worth your while to pick up this title.

Despite packing a lot of playtime, "Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut" doesn't quite make the cut. Longtime Sonic fans will want to pick it up just to have all the Game Gear Sonics in convenient disc form. The rest of us can simply dust off that Dreamcast version of "Sonic Adventure" and pretend we're holding Wave Birds.

Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut is, conceptually, a great idea. The game is among the blue hedgehog’s finest, and the list of extra features is a Sonic fan’s dream come true. Unfortunately, the execution looks and feels rushed, resulting in an unbalanced end product.

It's great that Sonic Team decided to bring the original Sonic Adventure over to the GameCube, and their addition of some new content is commendable, but it's incredibly disappointing to see that they didn't clean up some of the game's major problems. So it basically comes down to this: If you own the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure, you're better off sticking with that and not picking up the GameCube version of the game. Those who have never played the original should rent the GameCube version to check out some entertaining level design and experience Sonic's first leap into 3D, but then leave it at that.

Sega’s re-release of the mascot’s 1999 Dreamcast launch title with enhanced graphics, sound, and a boatload of extra features doesn’t make up for the fact that Sonic Adventure was certainly not his most shining moment in an otherwise noble career.

Fast forward to the present. A port of the game -- largely unchanged -- has arrived for Nintendo's GameCube console. Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut, features some minor visual enhancements, new mission challenges, and GBA-link functionality to boot, and the single-player adventure itself remains an entertaining romp through the hedgehog's universe. But gamers are accustomed to 3D games now and by today's standards, Sonic Adventure is dated. Further, no longer dazzled by the title's once-impressive technology, it's depressingly too easy now to spot its many game design and technical flaws.

Does Sonic look like a cow? Then why is Sega trying to milk him like one? This game seriously has 10 minutes of cutscenes and wandering for every minute of real gameplay. And the gameplay isn't even any good to being with - though it's better than the camera, music, and level design. I like a few of the Game Gear games, but most were lame when they came out originally, and continue to be. This shouldn't been titled Sonic SuX.

The DX edition changes the look of the character's with what seems like brand new shader routines (unlike a texture map, which is an image file, a shader is defined through coding). The characters look a little more rounded and much shinier, but not necessarily better. They stand out from the stages because originally they didn't have that glossy sheen. It's a little distracting. However, the environmental texture maps throughout the stages also received some polish. Compared to other Dreamcast port jobs like Skies of Arcadia, DX seems much sharper and more solid.

"Sonic Adventure DX" pode ser uma séria decepção levando em conta os atuais padrões da indústria de videogames e o fato de sua continuação já ser um dos mais populares jogos do GameCube. A idade do game é aparente, e apenas os fãs que querem completar sua coleção devem pensar seriamente em comprar esse jogo.
