Overall, I found Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle to be a charming platform game with few flaws. It’s easy to control, you get a lot of items to play with, it’s not too short, and it is quite addictive. Graphically, it is different to say the least, but it's great in its simplicity and has relatively decent music.

Mais uma aventura de Alex Kidd, e nesta ele tem de resgatar nada menos que o pai dele, o rei Thor, seqüestrado. O herói tem de ir até Paperock, onde encontrará o prisioneiro no Castelo Encantado.

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle ist an sich kein schlechtes Spiel, es kommt nur zu keiner Sekunde an Miracle World ran und muss sich auch deutlich hinter Shinobi World platzieren. Es will einfach nicht das gleiche Alex Kidd Feeling aufkommen, trotzdem ist es natürlich wesentlich besser als Hi-Tech World.

I considered how much fun this game would be if Janken was removed altogether. Whether it's swimming (Alex does it all) and punching the tentacles off an octopus, taking out aircraft in your Pedicopter, or building an airtight case for the prosecution for vehicular homicide on your motorbike, there's plenty to do and see thanks to the good level design and brilliant items at your hands. Without the paper-scissors-rock routine, it would be a bit too easy, despite the great and incongruous length and difficulty of the final level, but it wouldn’t make you mad, and you’d easily be able to stomach the dodgy collision detection and horrid ending sequence. Yes, the adventuring ingredients are that engaging. But the Janken element isn’t going anywhere, and to speak to your probable progress in Enchanted Castle: neither are you.
