Batman's audio features a generic soundtrack, and the sound effects are minimal. You won't find many surprises in the platform action, but the driving and flying sequences are a real treat. Actually they play more like side-scrolling shooters. In the Batmobile, you mow down cars, vans, and tanks on the road, while the Batwing stage lets you shoot down helicopters and balloons. I especially love those heat-seeking missiles, which effectively slice through several vehicles at a time. Batman for the Genesis may not be a showcase title for the system, but in terms of pure fun, it's hard to beat.

This was one of the games that would have made me buy a Genesis if I didn't already have one at the time it was released. The graphics, for the time, are second to none and absolutely blew me away! Looking back on it now, it seems to have a whitewash effect over the screen, but at the time I didn't notice and was blown away by the effects (the rain was amazing!) and the well-drawn graphics. Animation did leave a lot to be desired, but when the graphics are as impressive as they are in this game, animation is a minor point. The gameplay in this game still holds it's own. It's still as easy to control and addicting as it was when it was released! In general, I don't care about a game's storyline, but the story in this game comes directly from the movie.

What can I say? It's great, but not the best. Once again, another simple game for the Genesis. The gameplay is true to the movie plot and scenery, but the bosses are too easy and don't last very long. Anyway, Batman is a lot of fun and full of huge levels to keep you busy. Solid.

Einige Missionen erinnern entfernt an "Super Shinobi", ohne allerdings an dessen Klasse heranzukommen.

When all is said and done, I do really like Batman: The Video Game. It's challenging, great to look at, and oozes personality. I'm especially fond of the Japanese version, with its tiny box. So cute! If you're not looking for the absolute best Mr. Wayne's alter ego has to offer, then by all means, have a go at this one. It's a decent little romp whose biggest flaws can be worked around with little trouble. Don't you wish you could say that about every game you've played?

Sunsoft's Batman accurately recreates the movie and it was certainly a welcome treat after seeing the import featured in early gaming rags. Unfortunately, the game is too short and not especially challenging. If you are an absolute Batfan, this is worth adding to your collection since it does evoke the 1989 movie so well, but just don't expect a "wowza" of a game.

The original Batman on the Genesis is one of those licensed titles that could have featured any character. There's nothing here beyond the cinematics and characters that makes you feel like you're involved in the Michael Keaton film. All it does is put the player into a cheap Vigilante knock-off with a spectacular soundtrack.
