Ghostbusters

It’s a fun platformer with solid controls, great shoot-em-up gameplay, and a little bit of freedom to help it stand out from the crowd. If you never got a chance to play it and are a fan of the genre or the Ghostbusters, I can’t recommended it enough. As the years go by, this one’s rarity and value are both increasing. If you can find it, grab it, and get out there and start bustin!

I enjoyed Ghostbusters a lot. It's pretty tough at first, as you need to work out each wacky baddie's weak spot to destroy it, but once you get used to the rather strange methods involved, ghost bustin' becomes an enjoyable and rewarding experience. There are plenty of humorous touches, like the magical moving furniture and some very weird end-of-level baddies - I love the ghoulie with the huge ghostie in his hat! With its excellent cartoon-style graphics and some great tunes, Ghostbusters is a neat platform/shoot 'em up which should appeal to Ghostbusters fans.

As licensed games go, Ghostbusters is clearly one of the better ones of its era. While it may not be a defining example of the genre, it does what it sets out to do and is entertaining for the hour or so that it lasts.

Ein paar Activision-Programmierer hatten das letzte Ghostbusters-Computerspiel ziemlich verhunzt. Daß man aus dem Kinostoff ein solides Spiel machen kann, sollten die zuständigen Schlafmützen bei dieser Sega-Version bestaunen. Das Mega-Drive-Ghostbusters ist eine solide Mischung aus Jump-and-Run- und Actionspiel mit vielen Extras, witziger Grafik und flottem Spielablauf. Die Steuerung erlaubt elegante Sprung- und Schußmanöver. Die Komplexität ist jedoch nicht atemberaubend. Spielt man mit Schwierigkeitsgrad "Easy" und macht von den Continues Gebrauch, ist man schnell durch.

The graphics in this game are excellent, but the music is uneven. The Ghostbusters theme sounds like an strange remix, and some of the music sounds too happy-go-lucky. Despite its flaws, Ghostbusters for the Genesis is a breath of fresh air compared to other versions.
