Concluyendo.

Combine the hours of dungeon exploration with dozens of gossipy villagers, oodles of stuff to buy, four types of magic spells and a lovely auto-mapping feature and you have an action-packed RPG which the American public will likely ignore. Sigh. Better luck on 32-bit, Treasure.

Light Crusader is still one of the more exciting and graphically pleasing titles the Genesis is coming out with, but a deeper story would've really made a big difference.

That said, it's still my recommendation that you pick this one up. It's one of those games that you'll never be able to tell whether you like or not until you try. Considering how cheap it is, that shouldn't be too much of a risky venture. At worst you'll waste five bucks on a video game. Odds are that at the very least you'll find it's a good way to kill time between greater conquests. And hey, you might just love it.

Light Crusader is a hard game to judge. It excels in terms of graphics and the ingenuity of gameplay. However, even the most hardened players will find the perspective difficult to get used to. I've never seen puzzle elements mixed with action quite this way. Light Crusader is weak in the story department, particularly where you must find out where to go next. The interface is nice when using items, but the combat did not work. LC needs more action scenes and less puzzles.

Light Crusader, which combines RPG and action/adventure gameplay, is just what the name implies: lite. As an RPG, it's less challenging, less complex, less absorbing and yet still strangely satisfying in some very basic ways.
