The Lion King brings great music, beautiful graphics and challenging gameplay together like few games have done before. There isn't one boring level in the whole game. I'm not sure what else I can say to convince you that this is a spectacular game and it deserves all the hype it's getting. Get off your duff, get to your nearest store and add The Lion King to your game library! You won't be sorry - unless you're a cold hearted cat hater.

Overall, this is just one great game. One of the best Disney games, and probably one of the system's best overall! Hakuna Matata!

It's in the second half of the game, though, that The Lion King really shows its claws. Controlling Simba when he's a playful bundle of fur is one thing; putting him through his paces as a full-maned adult is quite another. When the grown-up Simba gives a blood-curdling roar and mauls snarling hyenas, the interaction is so well observed that it's like watching a PBS nature documentary. The sense of power it gives you is exhilarating, and by the time Simba takes his climactic heavyweight stand against his evil uncle Scar, this Lion King has turned into a wild-kingdom variant of Street Fighter II.

Like the other Disney movie adaptions, this one does the animated feature justice and provides very good graphics (wait until you see the knock-out graphics in the stampede sequence). There is a lot of technique here and the game is a little more difficult that the other Disney entries, but nonetheless a worthwhile trip.

If I didn't already own Aladdin and Jungle Book, I'd buy this game in a second. For now, I'm content to rent. But if you haven't already experienced a Disney/Virgin platform game, you have to check out The Lion King.

Overall, it's worth saving Pride Rock once for the graphics and sound alone, but it's not a quest you've likely to tackle again.
