When you enter "POD PLEASE" as Player 1's name, you gain access to a hidden mini game called "POD".

It appears that there are only 3 kinds of cars in the game, but there are actually 5 for you to choose from. The original 3, the opponent's car, and the sprite car. All three were playable in early versions of the game.
