Madden NFL '95

Madden fans will not be disappointed with the '95 game. It has all of the features Madden players have been asking for and is truly a superior product. Taking into account the strength of the NFL game and the improvements in the game's engine, while also looking at the game's offensive imbalances, Madden '95 scores in the same range as Walsh '95 and Sega's College Football.

While SNES owners get a few extras when they buy Madden NFL '95, Genesis owners shouldn't despair. Apart from the slightly less impressive graphics and sound there is little else about the Genesis version that has a negative effect on the excitement level.

This was the first Madden game to be endorsed by both the NFL and the NFL Players Association. The graphics look very realistic - the players are properly proportioned without the black outlines, and the animation is improved dramatically. But the biggest innovation is the elimination of the passing windows! Now the receivers are each assigned a button, just like the modern football video games. New moves include straight-arms and high steps. This was the first Madden which let you execute two-point conversions. The sound is crystal clear, and the game moves along at a brisk pace. My friend Eric and I actually jumped when the referee shot a gun (!?!) signaling the end of a quarter. This is truly a great football game!

The improvement in the Genesis graphics over last year is much more striking; the players now look part of the game instead of sprites pasted on a background. Both games include detailed new animations such as stiff-arms, high-stepping and on the Genesis there's even one-handed catches.

The two biggest complaints about Madden games usually focus on the limited plays and the weak computer competition. EA Sports solves both problems in Madden NFL '95 for the Genesis, earning it a place among the best football simulations ever.

I've been dedicated fan of the Madden series. This year's version has my vote! New animations of players are welcome, as are the new plays that Madden has designed. Madden NFL '95 has many more features and options that you will enjoy like the specific injuries that happen on the field. Another great upgrade for all Madden fans!

Ett bra spel har blivit bättre, men tyvärr inte så bra att det kan bli toppbetyg. För det hade det behövts lite bättre inställningsfunktioner för säsongsspelet. Actionfaktorn är dock hög så räkna med många timmar framför tv:n.

The computer is not a great opponent as usual though. Especially if you have played your way through this videogame series which began with John Madden Football in 1990. The computer opponents may be getting better but so are you. Nevertheless, Madden NFL 95 is a great game that football fans and even non-football fans will find very enjoyable.

Madden '95 ziet er zeker niet slecht uit hoewel je er een beetje van in de war raakt, zijn de mogelijkheden zeer uitgebreid. Met name de mogelijkheid om van tevoren allerlei strategische patronen (plays) in te stellen, zal je even tijd kosten. Binnen de sportspelletjes is American Football een buitenbeentje maar dat is na het zoveelste voetbalspel misschien juist wel aardig.
