Mickey Mania

Disney improves it's video game track record to 2-0 after the success of Aladdin, and with Virgin's The Lion King not far ahead, it looks as if their win streak will continue. And for Sony Imagesoft, they've finally got themselves a gem of a game. I don't care how old you are, if you're an action fan, you can't afford to miss Mickey Mania.

For me, the most surprising aspect of Mickey Mania is that the Genesis version is so incredible, effortlessly reproducing the effects mentioned above and even surpassing the SNES cartridge in some respects. It's almost as if the programmers were flexing their muscles with the Genesis cart, boldly showing off what this machine can do...and some of our readers may still be unaware of just how much it's capable of!

Sony Imagesoft is not a popular name among publishers of 8 and 16-bit games, and it has been said that Mickey Mania is their one gem in a sea of abysmal failures. I beg to disagree. I happen to appreciate one of their reviled NES games, Bram Stoker's Dracula. But I digress: cartoon aficionados can't go wrong with this cart, and even retro gamers who beware of its premises will discover a game in which there's more than meets the eye. Despite the game's overall linearity, the beautiful graphics and involving challenges will keep you coming back...

It's rare that you'll go wrong with a Disney title. They appeal to gamers of all ages and the beauty of the artwork is certainly timeless. If Mickey's not your thing, you won't appreciate this cart. But if you liked any of Mickey's other games, you won't miss with Mickey Mania.
