Two Megadrive basketball games in one ish? Well, this doesn't have the finesse or panache of Lakers vs Celtics, but is still graphically excellent, highly playable (especially in two player mode) and it's an official release. Would-be Magic Johnsons would do well to grab it quick.
Play Time (May, 1991)
SLAM IT!
Raze (Apr, 1991)
There are three levels of difficulty to ensure you don't get to the finals too quickly. Conquer the finals and you will be crowned the Super Real Basketball Champion - but I shouldn't hold your breath!
Mean Machines (Apr, 1991)
There's no doubting that this is an excellent game of computer basketball. The graphics are very good, with nice animations on the players, realistic ball movement and very impressive animated scoring screens. The computer opponent is fairly challenging, but for maximum enjoyment you really need to play against a human player. Basketball fans are bound to thoroughly enjoy the action - although I don't think the game has that secret ingredient which would make it totally appealing to a broader range of gamesplayers.
Power Play (May, 1990)
The Video Game Critic (Sep 13, 2001)
Graphically, the side-scrolling court features a crowd and cheerleaders, but no coaches or benches. Surprisingly, a half-time show IS included. There are no customization options in this game, and annoying background music drones away throughout the whole ordeal. Pat Riley Basketball is much more fun to laugh at than to play.
