QuackShot starring Donald Duck

If you're looking for a show stopper along the lines of Castle of Illusion, that's a million times harder even with unlimited continues but has more fun junk to do, run don't waddle to buy Quackshot. Even if you don't find Garuzia's Treasure, you'll have a Genesis treasure of your very own.

Le seul bémol est l'absence de mots de passe et donc de sauvegardes. Ainsi, pour espérer le terminer il faut bien compter 2H en le connaissant par coeur. Donc si vous le découvrez, vous aller devoir vous y prendre à plusieurs reprises pour espérer en voir le bout. La durée de vie est donc assurée. Certains passages vont sûrement vous poser problème, mais le forum en détresse est là pour vous aider ;).

Quackshot proves that anything Mickey can do, Donald can do better. Not only does Quackshot play like a dreamy treat, the gameplay is constantly changing, providing a constant and deeply enjoyable callenge. It's also got some of the best graphics and sound that the 'Drive's ever produced. And, unlike 99,8% (precisely) of most 'Drive games, it actually takes more than an afternoon to complete. I'd rather play this instead of Castle of Illusion, or, for that matter, the hugely over-rated Sonic any day of the week. So this Xmas, forget Hype the Hedgehog and plug the Duck in your slot. You'd have to be quackers not to.

Die technische Seite von Quack Shot ist als gut zu bezeichnen. Die Grafik ist im Großen und Ganzen ansehnlich, auch wenn man einige Passagen schon beim Erscheinungstermin als veraltet bezeichnen würde. Dafür macht die Spielfigur alles wieder wett. Donald sieht nicht nur witzig aus, sondern ist es auch, vor allem wenn er zu viele Chilischoten zu sich nimmt und dadurch sein Temperament mit ihm durchgeht. Die Steuerung ist unkompliziert und lässt absolut keine Wünsche offen. Quack Shot ist ein sehr gutes Jump´n´run-Spiel, auch wenn es wegen des leichten Schwierigkeitsgrades auf Profis eher langweilig wirken kann.

Margarida está fazendo aniversário e Donald, como todo apaixonado, quer dar a ela um lindo presente. Um dia, enquanto Tio Patinhas está dormindo, ele descobre em sua biblioteca um antigo livro sobre o tesouro do rei Garuzia. Donald acredita que o tesouro do rei possa esconder um lindo presente para Margarida e viaja de Patópolis até uma ilha deserta passando pelo México, Egito, Pólo Sul, Transylvânia, Índia e até por um navio Viking, para encontrá-lo. Durante toda a viagem, Donald conta com a ajuda de seus três sobrinhos. E com a sua, que será fundamental para o seu sucesso.

The graphics and gameplay just get better and better, eventually you'll find yourself completely addicted and all that's required is a bit of perseverance. It turns out that Donald Duck is a top notch bit of Sega related japery. A nice game that needs a lot of patience.

Lástima que el juego no sea más largo, ya que podría haber más fases o como mínimo un jefe final en todas ellas; todo eso no quita que Quackshot sea un buen juego de plataformas que si bien no alcanzó la maestría de los más grandes, supo encontrar un hueco en los corazones de los poseedores de Megadrive en sus inicios.

Ca ne gêne pas bien entendu pour apprécier Quackshot sur d'autres niveaux, le graphisme des personnages et la diversité des environnements, la musique, l'idée des ventouses, les menues références à Indiana Jones (à la Dernière Croisade en particulier). C'est une production Sega de haut niveau, et on s'y amuse suffisamment.

The graphics and animation are colorful and fun, and the music is very memorable. I especially enjoyed the spooky atmosphere of Dracula's castle. Quackshot is not particularly tough or long, but it's a quality game. There are a few flaws I should mention however. There's a scene in Dracula's castle where I went around in circles for quite a while before figuring out what I had to do. There's one slow-motion, underwater scene that I hate, but at least it's mercifully short. This game also comes up short in terms of replay value, and there's only one skill level. Still, Quackshot is great fun the first time through, and it's perfect for younger players.

The graphics in Donald Duck are absolutely brilliant and easily match those of Castle of Illusion. However, the gameplay falls short. The action is too slow, even when Donald is sprinting, and there isn't enough happening on screen to set your pulse racing. Don't get me wrong - Quackshot is a jolly game, but I found the lack of excitement and the rather plodding nature of the game a bit of a disappointment. Maybe this is better suited to younger Megadrive owners?

In the end, however, Quackshot is an excellent piece of platforming that succeeds on just about every level. With the exception of Fantasia (I'm still pissed about that one), Sega did a great job with the Disney titles they released. Anyone with a Genesis should have a copy of Quackshot in their library. It's a great title to break out and play every so often. Once you get over the low difficulty, you'll have a ball.

Quackshots leckere Grafik haut jeden Mega-Drive-Besitzer restlos vom Spielehocker. Donald ist liebevoll und niedlich animiert, die Hintergründe sind traumhaft schön und das Scrolling butterweich. Die Gegner-Sprites und besonders Donald Duck entlocken dem Spieler so manchen herzhaften Lacher. Startet Donald seine "Quak-Attack" (nach einem halben Dutzend eingesammelter Pepperoni) kullern sich Spieler und Zuschauer vor atemlosen Gelächter am Boden. Die Musik ist einzigartig: stimmungsvoll und vollkommen abgedreht. Der spielerische Teil der Entenorgie läßt im Gegensatz zu Grafik und Sound jedoch noch einige kleine Reserven blicken. Zwar sind die höheren Level schön verzwickt, aber nicht sehr komplex. Ein paar mehr Rätsel hätten dem Jump'n'Run-lastigen Modul bestimmt ganz gut getan. Trotzdem sollten sich nicht nur Entenhausenfans das perfekt gestylte Spiel beschaffen.

Positiv: Klasse Comic-Grafik. Abwechslungsreiches hin und her Wechseln zwischen verschiedenen Levels. Niedriger Schwierigkeitsgrad; gut für Einsteiger und junge Spieler. Negativ: Spielablauf ohne große Überraschungen. Biete nicht ganz so viele Gags wie Castle of Illusion.

Quackshot is a good platformer tripped up by some questionable controls. The game is just unnecessarily frustrating in spots, such as the desert scene when you're trying to jump across gaps and land on narrow platforms, and it pulls the game down. If you love Castle of Illusion (and you should), Quackshot isn’t a bad companion piece. Just ratchet down your expectations -- and don't pay too much.

Very smooth control is the best feature of this game. The music and sound effects are about average. While this game visually shines in some areas, it is drab in others. Donald is designed nicely and even expresses impatience when he is not controlled by the player by wagging his tail, stomping his feet, and displaying an annoyed facial expression.
