Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi

This fine Shinobi sequel is often overlooked, but deserves more credit. Your job is to rescue hostages scattered over four stages set in downtown locations. Your ninja's main weapon is throwing stars, although he slashes with his sword when enemies are close enough. He can also use a limited number of magic attacks to wipe out all on-screen enemies. But the best feature of Shadow Dancer is the loyal dog who is always by your side. You can sic him on any enemy, which results in a struggle that provides you with an opportunity to attack. The dog effectively adds a strategic element to the action, allowing you to reach even the most elusive enemies from a safe distance. Shadow Dancer isn't a huge game, but it's very satisfying.

En conclusión, Shadow Dancer es un divertidísimo juego digno de la saga a la que pertenece. Como puntos negativos hay que señalar el anticuado aspecto técnico y la corta duración, pero a esta joyita lúdica se le perdona todo después de la primera partida: es extremadamente adictivo y te mantendrá pegado al pad hasta el final.

Étrangement différent de la version arcade, ce deuxième épisode des aventures de Shinobi sur MegaDrive même s'il demeure sans doute le moins bon des trois opus qui y sont disponibles reste un excellent titre, très difficile mais fun, il saura tenir en halène n'importe quel joueur devant sa télévision et mérite sa place sur n'importe quelle étagère de collectionneur entre The Revenge Of Shinobi et Shinobi III.

It's a different pace from past games, but that's what Shadow Dancer was intended to be: pretty much a translation of the arcade gameplay. And as a result, it's a bit short...five levels total, being made of two short sub-areas and a boss. But the difficulty select and no-shuriken mode add to the challenge for long time fans. Shadow Dancer is one of those Genesis classics you should definitely get your hands on.

Shadow Dancer ein sehr gutes Spiel. Es übertrifft zwar nicht Revenge of Shinobi, da es auch völlig anders ist, aber da es das originale Shinobi nie auf dem Mega Drive gab, ist das ein doch recht guter Ersatz.

While it was only the second game in the long running series, it's one of the best. It's a short ride, but in order to see it all, completing the hardest level will take some practice. The combination of classic gameplay, thundering soundtrack, and great graphics combine to make this one of the better platformers for the console.

Shadow Dancer ist mit 18 Kampf-, End- und Bonusrunden definitiv zu kurz - dafür braucht man sich nicht mit Frustsequenzen und Lückenfüller-Sprites herumzuärgern, Shadow Dancer bietet Spaß und Spannung vom Intro bis zur Endsequenz.
