Description

Gourmet is a comic text adventure set in a restaurant. A week after the grand opening of your restaurant Mack 'n Geez, and Vera Davenport, top culinary reporter is due to pay a visit.

You must manage the restaurant, and prevent this important evening from becoming a massive disaster, as it threatens to do. The Puzzles mainly involve you avoiding everything going wrong, as you you keep the guests from being distracted by what is going on behind the scenes. The plot thus resembles that of an episode of Fawlty Towers.

Trivia

Gourmet placed fifth overall (out of 30 games) in the 2003 rec.arts.interactive-fiction annual IF competition, and 3rd in the Miss Congeniality sub-contest -- as judged by the fellow competition entry authors. In 2003's XYZZY Awards it took home the prize for Best Puzzles, and placed in the Best Setting and Best Individual PC categories.
