Overall, Episodes from Liberty City is one heck of a package containing two amazing and action packed games for only $39.99 MSRP. You can’t go wrong here.

This is the perfect sandbox game because when you want a break, you can just jump in a car, cruise and listen to some entertaining radio stations while you do whatever you need to do, whether picking girls or just making a twit of yourself, it doesn’t get any better than this.

If you have missed out on either of these exceptional expansions now is the time to act. Both could be passed as full retail games and for the low price of $40 for both it is a steal. Episodes from Liberty City is the perfect stocking stuffer for your favorite GTA fan this holiday season.

Simply put, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City is one of the most impressive bundles to hit the Xbox 360. You simply can’t beat two very different and amazing stories that, packed together, make for a deeply rewarding gaming experience. Even if you don’t own GTA IV, this is the package you should definitely be playing.

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City rounds out the Grand Theft Auto IV package quite nicely. It offers most everything you'd want to find in a GTA game, from intriguing characters to biting satire; from well-polished single player missions to fantastic multiplayer design. It would appear that it is time to close the book on Grand Theft Auto IV, but Episodes From Liberty City is a remarkably satisfying sendoff that will leave fans in anticipation on where the series will go next. Well done, Rockstar. Here's to the future!

What can one say about “Episodes from Liberty City”? Well, at first I thought this was just another way to cash in on the DLC-mania that these next-gen consoles suffer from but really, at the price-point of about half a 360 game, you get 20 hours of storyline and enough content to keep you busy for days. Add the fact that the multiplayer from the first add-on is actually better than the original and you can’t conclude anything else than this being a great title. If you didn’t already download the episodes or don’t even own the original GTA IV then this is a true must-have title in your collection. You can even score both GTA IV and this title for about 50 Euro so what are you still doing here reading?

The Lost & Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony are the perfect way to close out the GTA IV saga. Finally, we know what happened to the diamonds stolen in the main story two years ago. Though Johnny and Luis don't have very interesting storylines, there are some fantastic additions to the supporting cast. The voice acting is superb, there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, the presentation is amazing and there's still the wonder that is Liberty City for you to explore. Sure, it's pretty much the same place you saw as Niko in GTA IV, but it's still an incredible creation.

At the end of the day, this is easily the most fun we've had since GTA III and although Niko Bellic was a little lackluster as the central character, Lopez provides that carefree attitude who will be more relatable to the broader audience. Even our biker is fun to play and we must commend Rockstar for putting both these episodes on one disc. The humour in both episodes are worth every penny and if you're a fan of this series or thinking to pick the series up, than we would happily recommend this game and best of all it links to everything that came before it!

GTA: Episodes from Liberty City is an amazing offering, featuring two of the best pieces of downloadable content ever released on Xbox 360. There's more than 20 hours of gameplay to be had here, just on the single-player missions alone. There are also tons of side quests and distractions as well as multiplayer. It would have been great if this package also included the full retail version of GTA IV to serve as a complete collection of the game, but this is still pretty damn good.

The wait has been well worth it and there has not been a better time for PC owners to return to what was a monumental experience. With two engaging fun stories and a whole load of content, Episodes From Liberty City is exactly how extended content should be approached.

Mein Fazit ist also klar: Kauf strengstens empfohlen!

Grand Theft Auto 4 is still an impressive feat thanks to its large scope and characters that remain larger than life; and Episodes from Liberty City manages to trump its cousin. These games are a testimonial to how much gaming has evolved while giving us a taste of what this current generation could offer. And while all the talk today seems to revolved around 3D gaming, motion controls, etc., I would much rather return to Rockstar's world of crime, violence, and vice. Bring on Grand Theft Auto 5!

The concurrent storylines approach also works very well, lacking the contrived feel of typical “What happened next” expansions, and it means that along the way you’ll bump into Niko, Johnny and Luis, and various acquaintances, through cross-linking plot-points that reveal what was going on behind the scenes of some of the most memorable scenarios in each of the three games. Whilst they are short, by their very nature, they ultimately represent everything that GTA IV should have been. If you loved GTA IV, you’ll love this – and if you didn’t, you might just find yourself being dragged back into the fold.

It's unfortunate that PS3 owners have had to wait so long to get their hands on this content, but that's certainly no reason for you not to enjoy it. The PS3 episodes are indistinguishable from there Xbox 360 counterparts, and there's no question that you should play them. So, the only decision you need to make is whether you'd rather download them for $20 each or pay $40 to get them on a disc.

So, for a total of $40 are these expansions worth it? Absolutely. Episodes From Liberty City is a great way to soak up 30-some hours on a sandbox adventure. Combine the two titles together, and the stories add up to about the length of a standard GTA game. With a horde of new features and modes for both online and offline gameplay, there is definitely no reason a GTA fan should be without Episodes From Liberty City for the PlayStation 3...unless of course, you've already played them last year on the Xbox 360.

The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony would be worth buying as standalone games, so as sub £15 downloads they're essential purchases, while the two together for under £30 if you shop online is a real bargain. PS3 owners can finally get their hands on what is the finest example of DLC we've seen to date.

Xbox 360Worth Playing
For the price you pay in comparison to the amount of gaming you get from the title, you end up getting a better bargain than most games on the market, downloadable or retail. Fans of open-world gaming would be foolish not to pick this up if they haven't already downloaded it. Even if you only had a passing interest in the series, this is a recommended purchase because of the completely different vibes that it has in comparison to its predecessors and imitators.

The Lost and the Damned drags you down to Liberty City's seedy underbelly and then The Ballad of Gay Tony recolors the world with flash and style. It's a great compilation, and the additions to both the narrative and the mechanics do well to compliment the aging Grand Theft Auto IV. The gameplay may not be as fresh as it was in 2008 and most of GTA IV's love it or hate it quirks are still firmly in place, but if you love the series (as many of you do), it’s hard to be dissatisfied with this package.

Xbox 360GameSpot
If the last thing you saw in the GTAIV universe was the ending of Niko Bellic's story, Episodes from Liberty City is made for you. If you're still playing GTAIV you might want to wait until you've beaten that game, and if you've already downloaded one episode it'd obviously be more cost-effective for you to just download the other. Episodes from Liberty City might not be the best way for you to experience these downloadable episodes, but do make sure you experience them.

Xbox 360Atomic Gamer
Despite my complaints about the storyline in Gay Tony, the game itself is still great, and that's only half of this $40 package - if you also haven't played The Lost and Damned, then Episodes from Liberty City is pretty much a must-have if you are a fan of the series. The on-disc exclusives aren't enough to make this worth buying if you already own The Lost and Damned, so if you do, then you should still pick up Gay Tony for $20 on the Live Marketplace. But either way, if you still find yourself popping in these games just to have fun and wreak havoc, then it's difficult to go wrong with Gay Tony.

Xbox 360Game Arena
As a gameplay package Episodes from Liberty City offers literally over 20 hours of a superb GTA experience for a budget price. It has been put together to save people the trouble of making room on the ridiculously expensive Xbox 360 hard drives - however thanks to poor optimisation it might be the kind of title you install to your HDD. You only need to parachute and crater into a billboard which only existed after you died once before you come to this conclusion. If you traded in your copy of GTA IV or you are indeed rocking a smaller hard drive, absolutely get Episodes from Liberty City. Otherwise, maybe pick up Ballad on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Even if you choose to ignore the multiplayer and most of the optional activities and side missions, there's a good 20-plus hours of fun to be had with these episodes. The stories are compelling, the memorable characters are too numerous to mention, and the gameplay is still top-notch. It's unfortunate that PC owners have had to wait so long to get their hands on this content, and even more unfortunate that the episodes don't perform any better on the PC than GTAIV did, but that's certainly no reason for you not to enjoy them.

If you’ve played through Grand Theft Auto IV, and haven’t experienced the follow-up Episodes from Liberty City, you’re missing a very big piece of the sandbox puzzle. Framerate and originality problems aside, the collection has everything fans of the series love, and pundits love to hate.

If you’ve never played Grand Theft Auto IV or if you’ve pawned off your copy, you don’t need the original game to play this one, though completing the first one is important to fully appreciate the plot. Though the engine has aged, there are few companies out there dedicated to open worlds as strongly as Rockstar is and several elements of Episodes from Liberty City will certainly be incorporated in future games both by Rockstar and other developers. The two episodes offer a robust gameplay experience, providing nearly 30 hours of gameplay to the truly dedicated. Fans of Grand Theft Auto IV shouldn’t hesitate to pick this up.

It gave credence to Liberty City's billing as the worst place in American, with a host of different characters running schemes all over the place. When the grand narrative is presented in a mashed up faction, it really makes me curious as to where Rockstar could go with the next true iteration of the franchise. Multiple playable characters could boost Grand Theft Auto’s pacing, and piecing the story together like Pulp Fiction could do wonders for the plot. In any case, it appears Gay Tony is the curtain call to Liberty City - so we'll have to wait and see.

The Lost and Damned

Grand Theft Auto Episodes From Liberty City is Rockstar’s way of picking up a nice cheque from Microsoft without having to do too much. The foundations were already in place and the majority of the design, just a new story and a couple of characters to reinvigorate the masses once again. Job done without too much distraction from the next installment and nice piece of business for everyone involved except the paying public. At its reduced price this is an entertaining distraction but little more than a solid expansion pack when ideally we wanted something much more.
