The game is controlled by joystick.

As you shoot and move, you are also being shot at from below (see squiggle line to left of ship) and from the left side.

If you hit the pod-chain in the middle, it splits into two chains.

You don't have to stay on the bottom. Sometime moving will help you escape the left-side gun. Here the ship has moved away from the bottom, into the grid toward the pod-chain.
