It’s obvious that Neversoft put in a lot more effort into Aerosmith than Harmonix put into Rock the 80s, thanks to the fan service in the game and subtle improvements. But ultimately how much you personally enjoy Guitar Hero: Aerosmith depends on how much you like the band. If you love Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is easily the best Guitar Hero yet.

When it comes right down to it, if you like Aerosmith then Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is for you. The only downside is that the experience is a short one, but it is still fun. If you hate Aerosmith, it's probably best to stick with Guitar Hero III and some DLC.

To me, "Guitar Hero Aerosmith" was a game I was so looking forward to playing. They are one of my favourite bands of all time, and a host of new songs for GH is always appreciated. However, despite the new songs and genuinely improved graphics, gameplay and career mode, this still feels like an expansion pack, yet is charged at full price, despite less than half the songs available in GH3. Equally, if you don't like Aerosmith, there isn't much for you here. This makes GH:A very difficult to score! For me, the best way to express it is to ask you how much you love Aerosmith, then subtract 1 for the lousy value of the package. So, a 4/5 for me, but not necessarily for you!

During my first hour with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith I felt like I was “back in the saddle again” but after I had finished my first pass through the career mode and realized my favorite song was not even an Aerosmith number, but actually Ted Nugent’s Cat Scratch Fever, I couldn’t help but think somebody missed the point with this release. As an average Guitar Hero player I did enjoy the more relaxed note streams, easier gameplay, and the substantial ego boost of actually finishing a half-dozen songs on Expert level. And as a huge Aerosmith fan, I certainly enjoyed having most of my favorite songs compiled into a single game, but ultimately this game is nothing more than a tribute to Aerosmith and you had better be a big fan if you want to play, otherwise, save your cash and spend it on song downloads you really like.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is enjoyable, and it's pretty impressive as far as fan service goes, but its appeal is going to be fairly limited. With no new steps forward, the game feels like a bit of an overpriced expansion, rather than a whole new Guitar Hero experience. While we did feel that the addition of songs from other bands helped to keep some variety in the set list, maybe the best route would have been to have just offered the Aerosmith songs via DLC or a budget-priced disc. If you simply can't wait for more Guitar Hero, and you don't mind Aerosmith, then the game might be worth a rental and a marathon play or two. If you're a true Aerosmith fan, then picking up Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a no brainer, if you don't mind the asking price.

As I mentioned earlier your level of enjoyment with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will ultimately rely on how into Aerosmith you are. If you love the band, and enjoy Guitar Hero, then this is a good way to enjoy a retrospective of the band’s history. However, if you are not much of a fan, then you’re probably better off saving up for Guitar Hero: World Tour.

This compilation treads the same areas as GH3, is a little shorter on the song list, but does pay a nice tribute to Aerosmith. The game does provide a challenge, but unlocked characters from GH 3 should have rolled over into this title. And while there is a great list of songs here, others that might have provided a little more variety to the compendium of the band’s best songs of all time are missing. What is here is solid; but in the end, it felt like there could have been more.

The only thing running against Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is the price. For about the same price as the game - $50US - consumers can download these tracks online to their PC for less. But listening to music doesn't present the same kind of intense challenge that Guitar Hero: Aerosmith affords. Played on Hard or Expert, this game will tax your reflexes and hand-eye coordination.

With a lack of downloadable content and a disappointing short set list GH: Aerosmith certainly isn't for everyone. Being a huge fan of the series it was great to see Neversoft finally tweak some of the more annoying aspects of GH III, but as I mentioned if you are not a fan of Aerosmith there is little here to entice you into shelling out sixty bucks. However, if you are in the mood to rock out 'Get a Grip' style this latest manifestation of the revered franchise is a solid title to add to your collection. Band specific games are a great idea, but they may be better off sent through the pipeline as additional downloadable content for an existing platform.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a title for hardcore Aerosmith fans and gamers that must have their next Guitar Hero fix. If you’re a casual Guitar Hero gamer you might be hard pressed to justify getting the game since the core Guitar Hero experience hasn’t changed. A few minor tweaks and changes but the only big difference is the Aerosmith paint job I’ve mentioned. If you can’t wait till Guitar Here World Tour comes out then make sure to check out GH: Aerosmith but be prepared. If the game would have focused entirely on Aerosmith and included all of their songs I think this would have been a must buy for all GH fans.

All in all, I was impressed by just how accessible Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is. The addition of a number of online multiplayer features really help to add much needed replayability to a title that focuses on a single band. Nonetheless, this is a title that will appeal more to fans of Aerosmith than to anyone else. Thankfully, the inclusion of master tracks and a slick menu interface means that this title sounds and plays exactly how it ought to. Look for the band-specific formula to become a steady performer for Activision, as these titles will be must-buys for true fans.

How much you enjoy Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will be adjusted on how much you enjoy Aerosmith music. Neversoft has followed the formula of their previous performance to a tee. If you don’t already own Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock I would suggest you take it for a run before you try out the exclusive Aerosmith edition. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is an interesting experiment that could lead to some great exclusive version of the game. If you love your Guitar Hero and want a solid collection of standard rock n’ roll then fire up the Les Paul and jam a with Aerosmith.

Neversoft and RedOctane played it safe by changing little to nothing in the Guitar Hero franchise with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. It delivers an enjoyable experience that new and old players can get immersed it. While the developers managed to not screw anything up, they didn’t add any real value to the game either that made us feel it was worth every cent.

Xbox 360Worth Playing
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a flawed attempt at fixing the problems with Guitar Hero III. While vast improvements have been made to the game's look and engine, a critical mistake was made when Neversoft chose to focus on a single band. The core Guitar Hero gameplay is still there and as fun as ever, but unless you're an avid fan of Aerosmith, you probably won't be happy with constantly playing Aerosmith songs. Many of the songs are often a bit too long to stay fun for the duration, but there are also plenty of great songs and fun to be had with the game. Sixty dollars for 41 songs is a bit steep of a price point, but if you can get past the price and the overwhelming amount of Aerosmith in the game (it is, after all, called Guitar Hero: Aerosmith), you'll find an enjoyable game that should tide over GH fans until Guitar Hero: World Tour comes out later this year.

It's tough to get excited about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. It's essentially a re-release of Guitar Hero III with a new song list and some new avatars. The fact that Guitar Hero III still has downloadable songs being released for it tempers any excitement new tracks might bring. Still, it is Guitar Hero and the formula can deliver a lot of fun. The game is easier than any before it, which makes it a nice choice for anybody looking to jump in and try out a Guitar Hero game for the first time. Guitar Hero Aerosmith is no doubt one for the fans, if you are not a fan of Aerosmith’s music then it is probably not a good idea for you to invest in this game. This is a game serious Aerosmith fans absolutely shouldn't do without, but I'd also argue it has plenty of appeal to the general gaming public - at least Wii owners who have more limited Guitar Hero options than other console owners. On higher difficulty settings, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a blast to play. The group's music is a great fit for the gameplay. Most players will ultimately derive a good deal of enjoyment from bashing the band's tunes on a fake plastic guitar, even if it is a short-lived experience.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is just as much fun as other Guitar Hero games as long as you like Aerosmith’s music. If you don’t like Aerosmith then I would probably steer clear of this game. Plus, if you don’t own Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock then I would recommend picking it up instead of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, since it has more songs and more bands for variety in it.

A few tweaks have been made to Guitar Hero III's base game. The most significant change is the smoothing out of difficulty levels in the note charts. GH3 would have "brick wall" moments when the difficulty spiked in the later tiers, but playing through the Aerosmith edition is a relatively smooth ride -- if you can get past the third tier, you can handle anything in the fifth tier. The only boss battle is against guitarist Joe Perry, but mercifully it is an optional endeavor (and every bit as annoying as the battles in GH3). With bonus songs from Perry's solo efforts and a fully animated Steven Tyler swallowing the microphone, the game's target audience is very clear -- and for them, the game's existence is justified.

There's no doubting the single band formula is a solid road for Guitar Hero to venture down, it will obviously shrink the market as it narrows the appeal a tad but if you love the band in question it'll pretty much be a dream come true. Me? I'd be more excited about a Queen or Guns 'n' Roses version but this is a decent first go.

At the end of the day the really big question is: “Does Guitar Hero: Aerosmith really deserve my money?” It is this writer’s opinion that if you are a true Guitar Hero fan, or just a fan of Aerosmith, you may find value in this game. That being said, paying full price for a game with only 40 songs and no support for DLC, makes for a game short on replay value and seems somewhat expensive. Those new to the Guitar Hero experience may want to look to other versions of the game for a deeper and longer lasting experience. Make no doubt about it though; this game is truly a Guitar Hero experience, so you should at least give it a try.

In the end, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is just more of the same with a limited set list. True, if you work the math at $2 a track, the forty songs seem like a bargain, but you really need to ask yourself how many of these you would actually buy if available as downloads. For the casual Aerosmith/rock fan, you are probably looking at less than half of them, making the price tag something better labeled as 'ridiculous' rather than 'bargain'.

You've understood well: you've got a plastic guitar at home and love Aerosmith, then this is a nice suggestion. If you don't like the group or still have to set your first steps in the world of Guitar Hero then you better go for the previous game that offers a lot more songs and a wider selection.

Xbox 360GameTrailers
Though Guitar Hero: Aerosmith plays heavily on the notion that it’s a must-buy for fans, even they will be ultimately disappointed with what they’re getting. The lack of downloadable content gives it a relatively short shelf life, while the lack of notable hits will strike a negative chord with anyone that wanted the game just to play “Amazin.” If these faults strike you more as nuisances than deal-breakers, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a hard rock pit stop worth checking out.

I enjoyed GH: Aerosmith, even as a casual fan of the Boston-based group, but the game isn’t one that I’ll likely spend much more time playing beyond completing a career or two, then trying some at a harder difficulty in an effort to buy some of the other cool content in the Vault. That’s not to say that you won’t keep it in your Xbox 360 a lot longer…or maybe you’ll be the “other” kind who doesn’t buy the game at all—even if you’re into other music games. With no disrespect intended to the band or Activision, it seems as if , unless you’re a big Aerosmith junkie, GH: Aerosmith will probably feel like you’re playing an RPG over a friend’s house, when you’d rather be playing a shooter or sports game.
72
Xbox 360XboxAddict
Overall, for me personally the game is just a cash cow for Activision and truly not worth the $60. It would be so much more worth the purchase if it were a 30 or 40 dollar title, especially when it’s basically the same GHIII game that just came out a few months ago. If you are a true fan of Aerosmith than you’ll probably want to have this in your collection, but if you are the standard gamer that enjoys the GH series. Just wait for Guitar Hero 4 later this fall, and rent GH Aerosmith to satisfy your possible craving for this game. For first time Guitar Hero players, then maybe one will want to pick this up with the wireless guitar included, but even then I would have to suggest just picking up Guitar Hero III instead, then renting this one at a later time.

¡A darle caña!

"Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" é lançamento que tem cara de caça-níqueis. Não há nenhum elemento novo que possa justificar um novo título avulso; bastava lançar um grande pacote de músicas para o jogo, como aconteceu recentemente com "Rock Band", que levou um do "The Who". Felizmente a mecânica do jogo ainda consegue contagiar e, aliada ao carisma do Aerosmith, fica difícil guardar algum tipo de ressentimento, principalmente se você for fã da banda.

Of the few thousand songs in my iTunes library not one is by Aerosmith. I listened to Pump when it came out in 1989, but apart from that, my knowledge of the band is limited to what I've heard while browsing music TV or radio. Despite this, I enjoyed the band's Guitar Hero one-off. The note tracking is interesting and there is a good flow to the hammer-ons and pull-offs. There are only a few songs that would compel me to buy the game outright, but I did come to appreciate the songs I didn't know more. If I had the option, though, I'd still prefer to simply buy the songs I like rather than buy the full retail disc.

In the end, it's still GHIII. But for the same price, you get fewer songs and no co-op career (though the other GHIII modes remain intact, including multiplayer co-op, battle, face-off and pro face-off, both online and off). If your wall is smothered with Aerosmith posters, you're going to want this game anyway. But if you're just a Guitar Hero fan desiring a new song roster, we suggest waiting for the price to drop ten to twenty bucks before picking this up.

Various guitars, costumes, skins, and other stage paraphernalia is unlockable. The more popular you become, the better the selection. You'll start off in a high-school gym working your way up to opening up the show for Aerosmith. Eventually you will play with Aerosmith, and that's when things really take off. The game isn't very challenging or long, so you can just rent it. But whatever you do, get your hands on it and start strumming!

And that's really what feels wrong about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. It's not that the game has the wrong songs, but that it has so few of them. For $50, you can't help but feel a little cheated when all you get is Guitar Hero III with a light coat of paint and barely half the songs. If the rumored Metallica and Van Halen versions of Guitar Hero ever come to pass, we can only hope they get better treatment than this.

Still, it is Guitar Hero and the formula can deliver a lot of fun. The game is easier than any before it, which makes it a nice choice for anybody looking to jump in and try out a Guitar Hero game for the first time. Just double check your status in the Aerosmith fan club before running out to buy this one.

Aerosmith junkies will love Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, thanks to its impressive song list and extra content. Everyone else, however, should rent it. It's a pleasant diversion, providing single-player and multiplayer enjoyment for would-be strummers, but with missing songs and the same old gameplay, it doesn't have enough sweet emotion to justify its $59.99 price.

If you are both a die hard Guitar Hero fan, and an avid Aerosmith fan than this is a no-brainer, if you love Guitar Hero, and have played all the other tracks available to death and are desperate for more than you will probably buy this anyway. However if you are looking for the next installment of guitar hero, then this isn't it, if you have never played Guitar Hero and are looking for a place to start then go buy GH3. This Is an offering to a niche and one that doesn't really have the greatest appeal to people outside that niche.

The biggest knocks against GH: Aerosmith are that it only has 41 songs (versus 70+ in GHIII), and if you're a Guitar Hero fan who doesn't like Aerosmith, you're not going to like a huge chunk of the game. If you're a big fan of the group you might enjoy the brief documentary videos, as well as seeing the band in video game form, but there's not much here for you if you're not fan or were hoping for new game modes. What's here is a lot of fun, but there's not enough content to justify charging full price.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a fun albeit rather easy and forgettable experience. The price of entry seems a tad too steep and the career will be breezed through by anyone who's got any experience with previous games in the series. Oversights, like not being able to access downloaded GH:3 tracks, are baffling and the number of covers for non-Aerosmith tracks is disappointing. For die-hard GH and Aerosmith fans it's a no-brainer, but everyone else might want to save their money for World Tour.

I'd recommend looking elsewhere for a new guitar experience with much more variety in playable songs, if you've pulled through Guitar Hero III, then perhaps now might even be the time to check out Rock Band, and get some practice in ready for the full-kitted out Guitar Hero: World Tour experience.

I am by no means the ideal Guitar Hero player and I enjoyed the less rigorous songs that this version offers thanks to Joe Perry’s riffs. I found it easier to play than the previous titles with the exception of On Tour, which hasn’t left my side since I picked it up. If you’re not an Aerosmith fan then you’re better off waiting until World tour releases. However this is a great starter for anyone looking to pick up Guitar hero for the first time.

All in all, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a decent spin-off in the raging series. Though it has its flaws like many other games, the game still proves enjoyable for newcomers to the series and veteran players. Though I didn’t enjoy the game to the same extent as other Guitar Hero games, I still found some fun in the game. Before you rush out to buy this game, make sure you like the band Aerosmith and you like the songs available in the game. If it turns out you don't, you will probably end up disappointed with the game when you finally get to play it.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith would have made a lot of sense as a $30 or $40 expansion pack that you download off of the internet. But $60 seems a bit steep for a puny track list and a complete lack of diversity. Even if Aerosmith is your favorite band, it's hard to justify paying full price for something like this. Still, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a fun game that will appeal to a lot of classic rock fans. The band may not be my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean you can't have a lot of fun while rocking out to Uncle Salty or Train Kept A Rollin'. Who knows, maybe if this band-specific release is popular enough we'll see one that would excite me, like Guitar Hero: Sigur Ros or Guitar Hero: Pavement. Or maybe we won't.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith isn't a bad idea, but the execution is so lazy that it's hard to recommend. Yes, there are some great Aerosmith songs here, and most gamers will find the difficulty easier to handle. But several of the band's classics are nowhere to be found, and several boring throwaway tracks are found in their place. Combine that with the fact that the timing window is still way too loose, and it costs as much as Guitar Hero III did, and you have a product that is worth spending some time with, but not owning.

Part of the fun of Guitar Hero is in the way that it can make music that you don't normally listen to fun to play, but that's something that's missing in GH: Aerosmtih. As I moved from one Aerosmith track to the next, I found myself thinking that I couldn't see myself ever wanting to go back and play them again. Without any cross song access between Guitar Hero III and GH: Aerosmith, it is hard to imagine having the desire to fire up the game simply to play the one or two tracks that I liked in the game.

Xbox 360Xbox World Australia (XWA)
It's pretty easy to sum up Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, because you'll either like it or you won't. If you don't like the band's music then there's nothing here that will change your mind, while fans will probably enjoy the eclectic set-list even if some of the better known hits are missing. As such it really boils down to that third group, the Guitar Hero fan who doesn't care about Aerosmith one way or another, and sadly this game won't do anything much to win them over either. The gameplay is identical but easier, the variety of tracks and musical styles is greatly reduced, and at ninety bucks it just doesn't have enough songs to justify the pricetag. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is an interesting experiment in how the series could go, but as it stands, hopefully it isn't the direction it will go.

Although it is a decent game I couldn’t help but feel I was playing an expansion pack for GH III. There are few songs with no improvements over from the last game, and it even plays exactly the same. This may not be so bad if I had paid the price of a normal expansion pack for it, but this game cost me just as much as GH III. With half the songs and no new features, this game is a bit of a disappointment, I think this could have turned out great as a DLC expansion pack, but of course the developers got greedy and wanted more money. Hopefully this is just to keep fans occupied while waiting for Guitar Hero World Tour to come out.

Opportuniste Guitar Hero : Aerosmith ? Sans doute.

It’s hard to say that Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a bad game, it really isn’t. However it is most definitely not worth the full price that is being charged for it when it could be played to satisfaction as a weekend rental for all but the biggest completionists. Buying it at a reduced price closer to its actual value definitely makes for a more satisfying purchase and you will be able to enjoy rocking out with one of the best bands to ever grace the music industry.

There you have it. If you have been an Aerosmith fan then you are in for a massive treat. However, if you are not much of a fan this will not really convert you to buy Aerosmith CD’s. It will, however, encourage you to play some more Guitar Hero, seeing that you are bored of all the awesome content available for download for Guitar Hero 3. Co-op is also available to extend the length of this game, but I fear if you’re not a fan it won’t sit in your tray for too long. Bring on Guitar Hero: Metallica! We’ve heard the rumours…

Sure, the tracks can be pretty compelling, though (like any Guitar Hero/Rock Band) how often you'll find yourself sucked into the world of being a rock god is up to whether you know the songs. Looking at the line up for Aerosmith, for every Walk this Way, Dream On, or Love in an Elevator, there's an All the Young Dudes. If you're bedroom was (or perhaps still is) plastered with photos of Tyler, Perry, and the rest of the band, then whatever is said here won't matter - you'll enjoy rocking out with the best of them. If your Aerosmith knowledge ends with 'Don't Want To Miss A Thing', then it's probably best if you avoid this instalment - especially since the Armageddon track failed to make the cut (perhaps it's being lined up as downloadable content?)

So, if you don’t care for the music or are wary that you’ll grow tired of Guitar Hero’s gameplay, I wouldn’t suggest Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, especially not at its current retail price. The game should’ve been marketed and sold as an expansion to Guitar Hero III instead of a semi-sequel that feels like a complete rehash of the previous game. It simply doesn’t feel as if there’s much of a value here, that’s unless you’ve been completely unaware that something like Guitar Hero even exists, and if that’s the case, and you’re a fan of the music, feel free to jump in.

There are better starting places for the whole Guitar Hero experience, with a greater variety of songs, better jokes and less terrifying main characters - and that's where I'd be looking for my first fix of the genre if I were you, as this one really is only for the fanatical.

As niche as this title is, it’s still a perfectly welcome edition in the Guitar Hero series. It’s just a shame that it’s essentially Guitar Hero 3 (PS2) with a few bells and whistles thrown in. Aerosmith fans though will lap this up. Most though will be happier waiting for Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is not a terrible game; it’s just lackluster. Dedicating an installment in the series to just one band feels like a bad move on Activision’s part, and we know this isn’t the last we’ll see of that. It seems like they should have just offered this catalogue via DLC for Guitar Hero III, instead of giving us a full-priced game with half the content that won’t even appeal to those who aren’t hardcore Aerosmith fans. It offers some fun for a day or two, but after running through the career once, you’ll probably never want to pick it up again. I genuinely hope that one day, the Guitar Hero series returns to its former glory, but today is not that day. Stick with Rock Band, kids.

The x-factor though is your own musical taste, and it will swing the score below up and down your own scale. Our feeling is that in this era of downloadable Rock Band albums for 13 quid - a price that's often criticised anyway - single-band games will have to offer gameplay innovations, spectacular fan service, or a lot more material than this to justify their existence and, more pertinently, an asking price of 40 quid without the guitar peripheral. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith entertained us sporadically - usually when we knew the songs, some of which are very well implemented - but the broader context of the current music game market boos the small scale off the stage before it's had a chance to tune up.

While I’ve always liked Aerosmith I never explored them thoroughly to really appreciate their music, and I figured this would be the opportunity to do so. So from this perspective, it didn’t seem like that horrible of an idea to pick up, but without any changes to gameplay and content from Guitar Hero III, the gameplay formula has actually began to feel stale. Look, if you’re the type that needs to download every song for Guitar Hero, nab a godly Top 1000 slot on yet another Guitar Hero leaderboard, or fawn over the Aerosmith poster double-sided-taped onto your wall, then you’re probably not going to listen to what anyone says about picking up a copy. (And if so, how did you even manage to read this far?) Still, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith isn’t going to change anyone’s mind about how they feel about this permanent fixture in American subculture. Its track list is slightly shorter, its difficulty is slightly easier, and its unlockable goodies are slightly less thrilling, but if you loved everything about Guitar Hero III despite its flaws, then there’s little reason not to grab this one as well. Just don’t expect your finger train to be rolling over the guitar as all-night-long as it did before.

All together, at a $60 price point, it's hard to not feel a bit ripped off by the content you're getting for your money. It's a simple track pack with Aerosmith influences to the visuals, and doesn't offer enough variations to warrant a full-fledged title in my opinion. We'll obviously be getting some changes with World Tour when it releases, but for now Guitar Hero Aerosmith definitely feels like a rental at best, and not something I'd suggest buying at full price. Even if you're a big Aerosmith fan I could suggest skipping this over, unless you're really itching to play some new Guitar Hero tracks.

If you're not an Aerosmith fan but like the Guitar Hero experience, this title might keep you mildly entertained for one or two play sessions. If you are a true Aerosmith die-hard, my advice is to wait until they release this material as downloadable content for the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour; what's offered here is not enough to justify the standalone cost.

Aerosmith or Guitar Hero fans should probably pass on this title. As I stated numerous times, this game feels as old as Aerosmith is. And that’s like, ancient man. Newcomers should just invest in Rock Band. It offers more for your buck.
