Description

Gun Monkeys is a one-on-one arena shooter game that requires two players, both offline and online. It is set in the future where human life has been obliterated, but a huge amount of power is available. Monkeys are sent into the future and fight each other to gather power cubes and bring them back to the present. The game has procedurally generated levels where each monkey has its own stationary power core. To win a game power cubes that spawn at random locations need to be brought back to the core, draining the opponent's level until it reaches zero.

The monkeys can move around, (double) jump, duck and cling to walls to wall jump or to move up. To navigate around the platforms ladders can be used as well. The two basic weapons are a gun with unlimited ammo and a limited amount of bombs. The monkeys fight each other for the power cubes and when one is killed, it is transported back to the core with a short cooldown time. Next to the cubes there are hazards in the levels and power-ups. These include new weapons such as homing missiles, mines and a laser, or an effect that freeze the enemy for instance.

When a game is won the power cube points are converted into cash, used to unlock up to 29 perks that usually affect the weapons. Up to four can be equipped at a single time. When a game is lost an amount of cash (when available) is lost. The online multiplayer integrates a lobby to challenge other players. The basic gameplay is explained in an interactive tutorial. It is also possible to give your monkey a custom look based on colour.
