Description

Hacker Evolution is a hacking game set in the near future.

In the year 2015 a coordinated hacking attempt crashes the entire world economy. The player takes on the role of ex secret agent Brian Spencer, who from a remote island in the Pacific has a chance to investigate what happened.

The game is played mostly in an imitation DOS-prompt screen. The only visual element to the game is a world map which shows the location of the servers the player can hack.

As Brian Spencer the player can hack into computers, download files, seek for passwords and transfer money to different accounts. Game play is divided into multiple phases. First the player scans the server, secondly the ports have to be opened to gain entry, finally the encryption key has to be deciphered.

There are multiple ways to open the ports, such as finding the right password, using an Exploit or simply cracking it. When the port is cracked the player only has a limited number of actions he can perform before he is traced. Brian's computer can be upgraded to allow for more actions and also new IP addresses can be obtained when things went wrong.
