Much like the Happy Tree Friends cartoon itself, it's hard to really know what to make of Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm. The flaws hold the game back from being as entertaining as it could have been, yet its over-the-top take on a classic formula is worth more than a few laughs to fans. On the other hand, it's safe to assume that those not already familiar with the warped humor of the show simply won't "get it".

Happy Tree Friends is a decent game that will please fans, but will end up boring most gamers. The difficulty never really ramps up from level 1 to level 30 and the levels are so short, you'll be done before dinner's ready. Everyone should check out the bonus episode unlocked by beating Happy Tree Friends, but it's hard to recommend you pay $10 for that privilege.

It's a shame because there are some clever ideas here that get lost behind the frantic screen wrestling as you try and figure out what is going on. Happy Tree Friends passable way to pass the time and given the lack of games that have tackled Lemmings style gameplay, it's entertaining enough.

The Happy Tree Friends has quite a faithful fan base, but most people will be left disappointed with the level of difficulty and the shortness of the game. Very few of the puzzles will actually require solving as they are so straightforward and obvious. The fact that you have to keep the Happy Tree Friends safe is also kind of disappointing considering that the main selling point of the show is watching them die in terribly gruesome ways. The looks and simplicity of the game may appeal to younger gamers but the mature content means it will be aimed for more mature gamers, but the chances are the experience wont offer a big enough thrill to justify giving up 800 Microsoft points.

Happy Tree Friends can be fun. This fun is mainly when you lead the friends to a bloody end, recreating the gore of the series. The bonus episode featuring the candy addicted squirrel, Nutty, is funny but is not worth the 800 MS points. Fans of the series won't enjoy this, nor will people unassociated with the series. Save your 800 MS points for something better.

Underneath all of its bad points, there is a sliver of fun to be had with Happy Tree Friends False Alarm, particularly if you forgo the whole point of the game and just let the grinning friends meet their bloody end on the various obstacles that you'll come across. Unfortunately, with the game costing 800 Microsoft points, that sliver of fun isn't enough to earn this game a recommendation.

Even then, a Happy Tree Friends game in which you try to avoid gruesome death seems to be missing the point somewhat. Rather than elaborate Rube Goldberg death-traps, you mostly get the same predictable hazard types over and over. The basic Lemmings meets Itchy & Scratchy idea is sound, but the final product feels half-baked. There's replay value in trying to get gold medals on every stage, but the core gameplay experience just isn't entertaining enough to make such a task appealing.

Lemmings-like schoolboy cruelty dressed up in gaudy Wii-like graphics, Happy Tree Friends is moderately amusing at first, sadly degenerating into a chore with each passing level or

Oder einfach was anderes spielen.

Happy Tree Friends adds up to one big mess. This is really one of the only times I have to advise avoiding a game. If you need to play this game do try the demo first to get a feel of what is on offer because essentially you are paying all of you Live points for an exclusive episode and a really poor game.
