Description
Hermes, messenger of the Olympian Gods, has been charged with delivering an important message to his father Zeus, chief of the Pantheon. Only one catch: Zeus is up in his celestial domain in the sky, while Hermes is down on good old Gaea. No problem! A ladder of clouds leads up into the sky, upon which our speedy errand-boy can tiptoe lightly, leaping from wisp to wisp! They gradually sink to the ground, but surely Hermes can climb faster than they sink!
Let's get one thing straight: not all clouds are created equal. Some blustery stratus clouds will try to puff you right off your footing with gusts from their wispy faces. Slight cirrus clouds will dissolve into little puffs almost as soon as you touch them! Then there are angry purple cumulonimbus stormclouds, which will try to shock you with lightning bolts. Conversely, encountering a hawk will give you a big boost upwards -- just make sure to be careful with the timing and always keep an eye open for your next landing pad!

Trivia
Hermes was developed in Python, over the period of one week, to engage the impromptu theme of "The only way is up" as per the rules of that installment of the
PyWeek Game Programming Challenge.
