The game is High Heat Major League Baseball 2002, a Game Boy Advance release from 3DO and Mobius. It combines stunning batting graphics with an option package to suit any baseball fan’s taste or skill level.

High Heat 2002 is a very good baseball game. With a wealth of features and true to life gameplay, there is no rational reason to skip playing this year's version if you are a fan of baseball. Don't let the bugs scare you off: the aspects of High Heat 2002 that do work more than make up for the shortcomings of an early release.

Other than delivering fantastic star-player facial maps, High Heat’s graphical prowess still holds many 32-bit qualities. Along with jerky animations, the TV-style presentation is stagnant. Disappointing indeed, this title really needs some flash, especially in comparison to the competing games. In the end, though, High Heat is a decent release. 3DO did a commendable job shaping a realistic simulation – something purists can really sink their teeth into.

If you are looking for the best playing and most realistic game, High Heat is your winner. Unfortunately, the bad graphics actually detract from the game and will make you question why you shelled out $300 for a system to play something that looks like a PlayStation game. For that matter, there are some games that can be found on the PlayStation that look and play similarly that are cheaper. To be fair, the game does have the most realistic feeling of pitching and changing speeds that I have ever seen and it is chock full of options. If you are not concerned with graphics, you should enjoy this game.

High Heat doesn’t come equipped with all the bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from baseball games, but its gameplay is functional and true to the sport. It even features a Home Run Derby and a full 162-game season. Of course, it doesn’t track stats, nor does it allow drafting or trades. The good thing is that High Heat has it where it counts. It looks fantastic, and plays surprisingly well.

A valiant effort by 3DO comes up a little short in the graphics department. It has good playcontrol and the AI is excellent. The computer will really exploit your errant throws. One of the best things about this game is that a hit to the outfield will usually score a guy from second. This is a common occurance in real life, but it is something that video games seldom get right.

The controls are intuitive and responsive, and for your hyperactive friends, you can even set the game speed. Other nice options include a replay frequency setting and "view stadium" mode, which lets look around at your leisure. After each game, there's a load of statistics including a full box score and a complete game summary! With awesome control, realistic gameplay, and fast action, High Heat is not a bad bet.

Solid game to enjoy on trips and other occassions. Perfect for a casual baseball fan who's not looking to engage all the nuances of a typical baseball simulation.

While visually the worst in town, the sim gameplay and depth raise High Heat 2002 above the pack. It's not without its flaws, but considering the limited shelf life of the PSX, this one currently holds the pennant.

3DO's High Heat Major League Baseball 2002 is currently the only baseball game available for the Game Boy Advance. It's a decent freshman effort, but a lack of gameplay details and multiplayer features and substandard visuals limit the game's appeal to die-hard MLB fans only.

Baseball is often referred to as America’s past time by many, however the game does have the tendency to present a boring aspect to a broad amount of spectators who simply state that the sport isn’t what it had once been. Despite that feeling, baseball is still very much alive and there’s no greater sign than the release of videogame titles dedicated to the sport each year. With the final weeks of baseball upon us 3DO steps up to the plate, once again with its highly acclaimed High Heat Baseball series, and swings fans a title for Game Boy Advance owners. But, just like baseball some times, this version of High Heat sports an ideal look without the follow up in many key elements.

PlayStationGameSpot
In the end, High Heat Major League Baseball 2002 is a better baseball game for the PlayStation this year than ever before, but it's still behind the curve. It has a lot of customizable features and little extras, like wild pitches and balks, but its gameplay and presentation are disappointing and not up to the standards set by every other PlayStation baseball game released so far this year. While the game isn't bad by any means, it just doesn't stand up to the other games on the market.
